I cant believe it's June already! Well, let's kick off the month right with this Monochromatic Fanatic project I'm sharing on the Paper Issues Blog today!

Who's got the blues? Not me! Well, ok, I guess I do now! All shades of blue! This challenge is so fun for me. I like digging into my stuff too find coordinating pieces!

I put my paper to work for me today. Yes, yes I do that every time I scrap. Anyway, first I cut the Stitching Star Galaxy FREE cut file. Then I layered it over an ombre blue Pink Paislee paper. Boom. That was easy. Now what? Oh yeah. All those blue bits and pieces I grabbed needed to find their way onto the page.  

I snuck a visit to my son on his birthday. I wanted to add pieces that make me think of him and this day. I used Pinkfresh So Cool, Shimelle Never Grow up, Pretty Little Studio and Cocoa Vanilla stickers and ephemera. It's exactly how I wanted it: Positive, Inspiring and BLUE.

School At Home

Hello there! It's Scraplift Sunday and I'm sharing my lift of Lacey's page on the Paper Issues blog today!   

This is such a fun design and super different than what I would usually do. To me that's one of the best things about scraplifting: trying other styles, then adapting them to your own. That's exactly what I did here. 

I left the design alone, but played around with everything else.  I love the two wonky triangles! I have been taking pictures of my son while we try to do school everyday. I thought Shimelle Never Grow Up would be a good choice for them.  That Alphabet paper couldn't have been more perfect! I clustered a bunch of Stickers and ephemera. I love using sentiment stickers for my son. The words are inspiring just like him. 

Want to know a secret? I smudged the paint at the bottom of the page.  I tore piece out at the top too. This is one mistake that worked in my favor.

Super Awesome Rad Cool Kid

Well, let me tell you, I had a blast creating my page! For me it always helps when I have great photos to work with. Boy did I today. My son loves watching all the kids walking through the halls between classes. His excitement is all over his face!

I wanted something bright and bold to highlight these priceless photos.  Shimelle collections always deliver on that wouldn't you say? Today I used what I had left of Field Trip. I started with the Fashionista Frames cut file. They are wonky and wonderful! I love the Genius Thickers so much I bought 2 of them. How perfect are they here not only to describe my kiddo, but probably how he was feeling too! Between the frames and Thickers, this page was about done. I used some bits from the 6x12 sticker sheet, and some shaker slices to tie it all together. Since no page is ever finished without Nuvo, I decorated the striped paper with tonal drops. And there you have it. My Take 5 of Stripes, yellow, green, tabs and triangles.

Chill Out

Hey there! I'm sharing this project on The Cut Shoppe blog today. It features the Chill Out cut file. This is such a fun cut file and it can be used in so many ways. I could have used it for a page about my son reading, or my other son making a mess with his toys. Nope, not this time. Today I used it for a page about ice cream. Get it? Chill out!

The hard part for me was deciding how big to make the file. The bigger the file, the smaller the photos. I also didn't want to cover it up, I wanted it to stand out.  Cutting it out of dark paper, backing it with light paper helped do just that.  I was able to trim the photos before tucking them underneath. I love using large cut files like these. I don't have to add a lot of embellishments. Just some stickers, and a few pieces of A Flair for Buttons flair and it's done!

Going out for ice cream is a given in the middle of summer when it's super hot out. It's extra special though to go out to Basking Robbins with Papa and Grammy. It reminds me of going out with my grandparents when I was young.

Sea You Soon

Hey there! I'm on The Cut Shoppe blog today. I'm featuring the new Sea You Soon cut file on my project. But I gotta tell ya', it has nothing to do with the ocean or Sea!

Well, here's the scoop. I live in the Seattle area. Sea is the abbreviation for Seattle as well as the airport call sign. So, I did a play on words creating a page of a recent trip to Pike Place Market!

What to do for a background for this page had me stumped. In the end, white cardstock won out, but with some watercolored splotches painted randomly. I still wasn't sure how this would turn out....

I cut the design out of a dark patterned paper, then backed the SEA with one color and the other 2 words in another. I love the way the SEA stands out. Next, I trimmed the photos before tucking them behind the letters. Lastly, I grabbed some embellishments from Shimelle Sparkle City. They are pretty perfect. Coffee, birds and a city scape with a ferris wheel. I couldn't have put this together any better if I tried.

My family decided to do a summer bucket list this year. We hadn't been down to Pike Place Market in a few years. It was a gorgeous day, there were lots of people and we checked this off our list.

Brush Them Chompers

Hey there! I'm on The Cut Shoppe blog today. I have a confession. I did it again. I used multiple cut files. Maybe that's my thing? Anyway, my other confession, is that I had no real plan when I began this page,

I knew I wanted to use the new Buffalo Plaid  cut file. I really wanted to stitch it. So I converted the cut line into stitching lines. That's when my plan tarted to come together.  I hadn't intended on filling it with paper, but it was too plain. I offset the file internally, and voila, that part was done.

Now that I had a plan, I chose photos, which led me to paper. I wanted a colorful happy page and went right to my stack of Shimelle Box of Crayons. Paper then led me to frames!  I love frames!  I also like to be kitschy.  The 'smile' frame from the  Instant Camera and 'cheese' frame from Say Cheese  fo with my photos so well I had to use them!  The colors are bright and bold, the frames around my photos are perfect and in the end this no plan thing worked out well!

You have no idea how important these photos are. Getting him to brush his teeth, even him letting us brush his teeth has been a lifelong battle. After some extensive dental work, we were determined to end the battle. It has taken some time, but I can say that every day, we battle less and less. And some days, like this one, he will even try to so it himself. So smile and say cheese indeed.

Life's Okay

Hey there and good morning! I'm off to a slow start this month but I have lots of ideas brewing. I plan on getting more done, little by little. Anyway, today I have a project I made for the Put It On an Angle challenge at Paper Issues.

I know, I know, you think I cheated. I should have tilted the photo or the papers, or designed on an angle. Nope. Not today. I used the Soak in the Sunshine cut file, and all those rays are on an angle. Boom.

Time to break out some more Shimelle Box of Crayons, I stitched the rays in the same colors as the papers. Almost a traditional rainbow but not quite. A bold background like this required little more than the few die cuts, stickers and layers behind the photo. Done.

Sometimes things get a little crazy. Lots going on, everyone is coming and going. Then there is a small moment like this, when I get time with my guys. Everything stops and for that minute I am reminded that life is okay.

Have You Ever Seen the Rain

Hey Hey! Just like that it's already April! Wow. That just means more unpredictable weather here. so nothing really different. Speaking of weather, that is the topic of the page I'm sharing today for the Layered on Thick challenge at Paper Issues

Lately I've been inspired by altering paper. There are so many beautiful papers this spring that have been scraping at me to take apart by cutting, sewing and or layering. The In the Sky paper in the new Shimelle Box of Crayons collections one of those papers! I saw it and wanted to cut it. Sew it, Layered. I pretty much did! 

I started with two pieces of paper. yep, two. I stitched around the clouds of the first one creating the bottom layer of the page.  The second paper I cut apart, stitching where the 'rain' had been printed on two of the sections, then glued them over their same spots. Then came the fun of adding some color. There are so many colorful prints and patterns in this collection. I love all of them. I kept it pretty tame with some reds & yellows, adding some stickers, die cuts. 

My favorite A Flair for Buttons flair. The Summertime 2 rainbow fit the colors so well. The Super Hero set gave me the POW I needed to go along with the photo dont you think?

Celebrate

Good morning!  Let's talk trends today. Even better, let's talk about using current trends on our scrapbook pages. Today at  Get It Scrapped we are talking about Pom Poms. They are everywhere. Today, they are on our scrapbook pages.

I think of pom poms as festive, therefore perfect for a party page.  My initial thought was to use them as confetti, and place them into some of the die cut spaces to add dimension as well as color. The pom poms were too dimensional and looked out of place on their own. Using the pom pom frame connects the free floating ones to the photo. After adding other embellishments with dimension, color and texture, the pom poms seemed to blend in better. 

I (reluctantly) agreed to a birthday party thrown by my husband and my sister. I just really wasn't sure how I wanted to celebrate. It wound up being a day to remember.

To Me!

Good Morning! The new Add It up challenge is on the Paper Issues blog today! This is one of my favorite challenges to play along with. I may be weird, but I enjoy thinking about what to put on my pages. Having to so it to reach a point value fits right into this. This month we are trying to reach between 130-140 points

I'm not done working with Shimelle Glitter Girl yet. It's still one of my favorite collections from this year. I learned a trick for this challenge: always use more than one photo! So today I have 3. Also, use lots of patterned paper. Today I used 7. That's already 50 points. See how easy this is? Add in the free Happy Birthday Circles cut file, lots of embellishments including puffy shaker stickers, corner stickers and wood pieces and 2 colors of ink and I reached 135 points! 

Yes, I am still working my way through my birthday photos. Yes, I could have made multi photo 2 page layouts but where's the fun in that? Each series of photos tells a different part of the day. Take these for example. CAKE! I had two cakes at my party. The triple chocolate mousse is my favorite and that one really was just for me. I was nice and shared the other one.

Party On...

Good morning! I feel like I have neglected my blog. What has really been neglected though is my crafty time. Life changes have cut into that the past couple of weeks. Im trying to get a handle on everything so I can change that! Anyway, It is Scraplift Sunday at Paper Issues and I am joining the fun!  Today lifted Mary-Ann and her amazing Pinspire Me layout. 

I love her original and did tried to recreate some of the layering and embellishment clustering. Shimelle Glitter Girl is so bright and colorful, I have to be careful not to go to crazy. That led t me using smaller clusters and less layering. That's ok. That's what scraplifting is all about. Using someone else to inspire you.

I may (or may not) be almost doom with my birthday photos. Regardless, this could be the opening or closing page of the book. You decide for me. I had as much fun with my letterboard as I did the party, just kidding.

Showers are Over Rated

Good morning! Time for a new Scrap Soup challenge at Paper Issues. This is such a fun challenge. I like being given some parameters to use, but still am able to design my page however I want. 

Well it was easy to get all the elements together today! For some reason, I keep going back to Shimelle Little by Little for photos of my kiddo and I. Title and journaling are pretty much a no brainer for me. 4x6 I had a choice to layer paper or find another way. I chose a 4x6 cut apart journaling card. The wider yellow strip is the 1x9 and I tore the edges of the star strip as well as the top yellow strip.  The raining clouds are supposed to be the visual image of the title. See. Easy!

I love, love, love that he has discovered snuggling, but sometimes, he would stay that way for hours and I really do need to get up and do stuff. Sometimes I just want to take a shower, so I can get my day going. I shared this photo and that sentiment with a friend of mine who very sarcastically responded with, "showers are overrated'.

More photos from my birthday. One of my friends walked in and threw something around my neck, grabbed my wineglass and all of a sudden I had free hands. She said she was bored the night before and started knitting. Next thing she knew she's made me a wineglass holder! Genius I say!

50 & Fabulous

Hey there! The new Add It Up challenge is on the Paper Issues blog today.  This is such a great challenge. Each month we have two stay within or reach a certain mount of points, given to us. Points are achieved based on the chart below. This month we had to stay under 50 points!  

Well, I thought this would be easier than it was. But I did it at exactly 50 points. I used one piece of the Shimelle Glitter Girl paper. called Be a Square one photo and a couple of stickers. It's supposing how quickly things add up! You will be seeing so much more of this from me. I'm doing a whole series of photos with this collection. I love everything about it.

Yep, more photos from my birthday. My sister made me put on the crown and sash. I said one photo only. Then I took it off and put it away.

Super Smile

Hey Hey! Happy Sunday. Make that happy Scraplift Sunday! Today at Paper Issues we are lifting this   little number Becky created for our current Issue 'Witch Kraft'.

I'll take ant excuse to use multiple photos on a page. And right now, I'll take nay excuse to use Shimelle Glitter Girl. As soon as I saw photos of this collection, I knew I wanted to use it for the photos from my birthday party. So many fun layers on this page means opportunities to use many pretty patterned papers! I grabbed 3 smaller photos, in different orientation. Other than that, I didn't change much. I started with the Dream Big paper for the background. Because Pink!  I layered us a few others, slapped on some die cuts, stickers and the Sparkle Phrase Thickers, and it was finished. 

We played one party game and it was a doozy. My sister made 'paddles' for everyone our of photos of me throughout my childhood. Then we played Name that Tune, raising the paddle if you knew the title of the song. It was a BLAST! It was almost as fun as picking out the songs in the first place! ;-)

Unfiltered

Oh hey there! I bet you thought I was taking some time off. Nope. Just a light week.  I am however, participating in today's Product Spotlight at Paper Issues.  It's all about Rainbows and Unicorns, or, collections the feature rainbows and unicorns. 

So for me, I had to play with the incredible new Shimelle Glitter Girl. Holy moly this collection makes me smile. It's fun, it's pretty, it's silly, it's sophisticated, it's inspiring. I actually have a plan for using most of it, but today I went all out silly. The pink in the For the Win paper provided the color and print I wanted to house all the embellishments. I mean, the puffy shaker stickers alone had me giggling in delight. I didnt know which one to use first! Add the holographic ephemera, stickers, what tape and glitter thickers, and there's not stopping me. 

Let's talk about Snap Chat. No, I don't really use it. I'll leave that to my son. But the filters sure are fun to play with! I only save the ones that make me laugh. The rest go in the trash. I wonder what we'll be playing with a few years from now?

Friendship

Good morning! Tribes and tribal motifs seem to be fairly popular right now.  Did you ever realize you can be a part of more than one tribe? There's your family, but how about your tribe of friends, at work or school as well? Today at Get It Scrapped we are giving you scrapbooking ideas for telling your Tribe's story. Here is one of mine. 

They say you can't go home again, but after 5 years we went back to visit our friends in our old neighborhood. It was as if nothing had changed between any of us.

We are a group of friends who became each other's extended family. We all met as neighbors, but became friends because of our children, who were all about the same age, with some siblings not yet born. We all became closer friends, sharing challenges and experiences with each other, as our children continued to grow up together. Many times, we relied on each other for help, advice and so much more. Although we have since moved away, and the kids are not as close and they once were, we still talk often, by phone, text and email. 

This page is the result of the product choosing me, and not me choosing the product. I had a completely different idea in my head.  As I was flipping through my stack, I saw this paper. I cut it apart, selecting words that describe our tribe. I arranged them as best as I could to form a block that includes my photo. The words also act as embellishments so little else was really required. I even used the largest word, 'friendship' as the title.

Pajama Day

Hey there! It's one of my favorite days of the week. It's Scraplift Sunday  at Paper Issues. Today we lifted Michelle's layout originally seen our Add It Up challenge.

I played with color today using Shinelle's Little by Little collection. The paper I chose had some of the stripes in the pattern, I added a few more to balance the color. The most fun I had was creating the embellishment border. I really chose purposefully, but placed pretty randomly. I love the way it looks!

Since my son was in Kindergarten, he fist day of summer vacation has always been Pajama Day. We make no plans, stay in our pajamas, eat silly food, and watch movies all day. There have been a years when we had to postpone by a few days, but we've always made up the day. I realized Ive never recorded this even and finally got a chance for a photo to go with the story.
