Good morning! I'm taking part in the Get It Scrapped article using a Half and Half design.

I chose the triangle across halves foundation for my page today.   It is a design I have used before and l know how to make it work for me using bold or subtle patterns and colors. I like the ability to substitute a journal spot for a photo, or change the size and orientation of a photo which makes the page look different each time. Today I  had three photos to work with, all featuring murals in the back ground, all also featuring my son, creating their own triangle.

I used Crate Paper Wild at Heart and Good Vibes for this page today. The patterns and icons reminded me of the artwork in the murals.

Ever since he was a little boy, my son and husband have called their time out and about together 'Special Outings'. As he's gotten older, the outings have changed, such as this visit to Seattle Center. This ais a great page for the Dads are Rad challenges Paper Issues!

So Flowerful

Tuesday, June 12, 2018

Hello there! Check me out! I'm cranking out the Paper Issues June challenges. Today I have a layout for the Striped Sensation challenge.

You may call this cheating. A striped paper? No big deal. Well, in a way, you may be correct. But I have a story. This paper? It's from the new Doodlebug Design Hello collection.  This royal blue? It's fresh. It's bold. It's new. I love it so much I dreamed about it. Really. I did. I just needed to find a way to use it. I had some ideas but I wasn't wowed by them. Until my son took this photo of me last week.

Yippee! Flowers! Then the ideas fell into place. Flowers. All the flowers. As many as I could get onto the page in an orderly way. Stickers? check. Die cuts? check. Enamel shapes check. They are layered, clustered and vibrant, but not overwhelming. I'm so happy that this came out really close to how I saw it in my head.

My son and I hit the farmers market for the first time this season. I wanted flowers. I picked the brightest bouquet, and even grabbed a few 'Horton Hears a Who' flowers as well. It was a lovely morning.

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. Come back again soon, I have more ti share over the next week. Head over the the Paper Issues shop to pick up some Doodlebug Design Hello for yourself or any of the other new products. It's always 20% off when you use DEVRA at checkout.

White Socks?

Sunday, June 10, 2018

Hey there! It's been a few days but I'm on the Paper Issues Blog today with a new project for the Boys Will be Boys challenge. This one is a slam dunk for me!

Or so I though! Why is it when I have something that should be so easy for me I get creative block? Well, I stumbled through that block and came out the other side. Today I started with my photo. Kids are getting older, there are fewer and fewer current photos to play with. I found this one I never knew existed.

This boy and his sense of humor! I'm telling you. I can hear him now. "White socks? Like these? Why would you name a baseball team after your socks?' So it required something playful. I found what I was looking for in a mix of different product, but primarily PinkFresh A Case of the Blahs and Boys Fort. The colors are soft enough that the photo stands out. The prints are small enough that they aren't overwhelming. The style of the two collections work together too.  All of that filled the Bubble Blast cut file so nicely! And guess what else. They kinda look like baseballs. ok. Not really.

I mixed some random little bits from my stash with the PinkFresh embellies to add a bit more color. The papers and die cuts do enough! I did add some A Flair for Buttons flair, because, well, it provides the extra touch. I used a piece from the Around the World 1 set. The word stickers applied to his humor don't you think?

It's refreshing to mix things up. I haven't done that in a while. I should try that more often. So should you. You can purchase PinkFresh, Echo Park, Doodlebug and so much more right now in the Paper Issues shop! Use DEVRA at checkout revive 20% off your purchase. Then, go straight to your crafty place, create something and share it with us in the June Challenges album in our Facebook group. Thanks for stopping by today and see you next time!

Life's Okay

Friday, June 8, 2018

Hey there and good morning! I'm off to a slow start this month but I have lots of ideas brewing. I plan on getting more done, little by little. Anyway, today I have a project I made for the Put It On an Angle challenge at Paper Issues.

I know, I know, you think I cheated. I should have tilted the photo or the papers, or designed on an angle. Nope. Not today. I used the Soak in the Sunshine cut file, and all those rays are on an angle. Boom.

Time to break out some more Shimelle Box of Crayons, I stitched the rays in the same colors as the papers. Almost a traditional rainbow but not quite. A bold background like this required little more than the few die cuts, stickers and layers behind the photo. Done.

Sometimes things get a little crazy. Lots going on, everyone is coming and going. Then there is a small moment like this, when I get time with my guys. Everything stops and for that minute I am reminded that life is okay.

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. Come back again soon, I have more to share.  Head over to the Paper Issues shop to pick up some new Jillibean Soup and Simple Stories as well as many other of your favorite manufacturers. They are always 20% off when you use DEVRA at checkout.

My Favorite 4

Friday, June 1, 2018

Hey there! Happy June! Yes, I said June! Already! New Month also means a new round of challenges at Paper Issues!  I wanted to start the month off right so I'm sharing a project I created for our Keep It Sketchy challenge.

This sketch is really fun to play with. It has so many possibilities. Can you see what I did today?!?! I used this awesome Amy Tangerine paper as the burst! Who needs a cut file? This paper did all the work for me. All I had to do was layer a few papers and LOTS of embellishments and I was done.  The embellishments are a bit wackadoo but then it dawned on me that I had the 'You are Unique' flair from the Strut Your Stuff A Flair for Buttons set. That meant the Peacock die cut made a little more sense. The key though is in the details. See all those dots? Yep. Nuvo drops. I know I could have stitched, or sewn to give it some texture, but this was more fun!

You know, our family is as wackadoo as the embellishments in this collection. Sometimes we get a good photo, sometimes not. Regardless, we are who we are and I wouldn't change a thing.

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. Check out some of the new things in the Paper Issues shop including Doodlebug Designs. Shop using DEVRA at checkout for 20% off your purchase.
