Hey there! Paper Issues Product Spotlight today is on the new Amy Tangerine Hustle & Heart

I will say, the more I play with these papers, the more I like this collection. It really has no "theme", so it can be used for any type of project, any moment or event you want to capture on paper. It's filled with different color stories that come together with big bold multi color prints such as the Coming Up Roses floral paper I used under the photo. The ephemera die cuts are glossy in texture and have a heavier cardstock weight to them. So beautiful! But really, the tiny suede bows are really one of the best emellishments to come in this collection. Talk about versatile!

Well, I have family all over this country. It's hard to see everyone as often as I'd like. I recently got to spend an afternoon with an Aunt of mine, who was passing through here on her way to her vacation. It was so worth the effort and also a reminder to me not to wait so long to see her again!

So here you have it, and tanks for stopping by my creative view today. This month is ending but you have until Sunday 9/3 to enter all of the  August challenges in our Facebook group.  Im recommending you get yourself some Hustle & Heart to play with! It's 20% off when you use my code DEVRA at checkout!

Who's the Alpha

Sunday, August 27, 2017

Hey good morning! It's Scraplift Sunday at Paper Issues. OMG I love today's layout by Cat Martin. It's striking in all the right ways. The large title, the black and white, the touches of color. It is spectacular.

So let's start with that large title. I couldn't get it out of my head, but also couldn't wait to do it! I cut it with the Thick Paint Alpha cut file. I had already set aside this new PinkFresh BoysFort for these photos so all I had to do was lay everything out, move it around, then glue it down. The only major change to the design I made was using two photos.

One of my friends' daughter was hanging out with us one night. Oh , I can't forget her dog too. Well, my dog always has to be the center of attention. Wherever they were, he was right there with them.

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. Head over to the Paper Issues Facebook group to join not only this challenge, but all of our August challenges. Come back again this week I have much more to share.

Happy Friday! Today isn't just any Friday.  It's Free File Friday at Paper Issues. We have so many FREE cut files in the shop. We also have the best file designer who just keeps on cranking them out!

Today we are focusing on our background cut files. I used the Diagonal Stripes background cut file today, combining it with the Thick Paint Alpha for the title. I layered both of these with the newest AmyTangerine collection, Hustle & Heart. Both the cut file and the Bright Side paper I chose are bold in style. I love the colored stripes peeking through the cut file! It does help tone the paper down. I used only stickers from the Sticker book and a few flair as embellishments around the title and journaling so there wouldn't get lost.

This guy goes in spurts with his interest in his books and toys. He recently rediscovered this book on his shelf. It had been quite some time, but he went straight to the back of the book where the complete alphabet is. He had no interest in the individual pages of letters. We would spend hours going over all the letters if I let him. He setttled on several times a day instead.

Thanks so much for hanging out at my creative view. There is a ton of new stuff in the Paper Issues shop including Amy Tangerine, Maggie Holmes and Pink Paislee and they are all amazing! Grab some for 20% off using my code DEVRA at checkout.

Heart Eyes

Wednesday, August 23, 2017

Good morning! Nope, I'm not done with August challenges!  Today at paper Issues we are highlighting projects created with our exclusive Swag Bags,  Don't now what a Swag Bag is? It's a little bag filled with bits & pieces of scrappy goodness! You can get it monthly or subscribe 6 months at a time.

I used primarily the August Swag Bag with some pieces from the Travelers Notebook kit. I cut apart several of the 3x4 papers into smaller pieces, placing them in groupings in two corners. I took some of the whole papers layering them under my photo. I added lots of the bits and pieces over the corner groupings. The new Amy Tangerine Hustle & Heart The Lucky Ones Thickers gave me the title I needed to finish this off.

We have had a dog for almost 8 years. It's only been the last few months that he has become interested in and pays attention to him. The biggest challenge is he doesn't know his own strength when it comes to grabbing and pulling. To see him listening and trying to be gentle with our friend's dog made my heart melt.

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. Keep coming back, I have so much more to share!

Once A Gaucho...

Sunday, August 20, 2017

Well hello again! Sundays are for scraplifiting at Paper Issues. I love today's choice created by Mary Ann Jenkins for our August Scrap Soup challenge.

I love any chance to use multiple photos on a page. To me it's like fitting puzzle pieces together. That's what made my page so fun to put together. I used the general design of the original page, but I used 4 photos. I had to arrange them differently for balance, and it worked out well.  A design like this calls for simplicity in product. A white background really paired nicely for the modern patterns in Pink Fresh Escape the Ordinary . The ephemera die cuts and fabric die cuts both have inspirational sentiments that finished this page off just right.

I just got home form taking my son to visit some colleges, including my alma mater. Being on the campus, taking a tour really bright back all the memories I have of being there. I was trying to see it through his eyes, wondering what he was thinking. I have no idea where he will wind up, but am happy to have been able to share this experience with him.

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. It's been a little hi and miss here this week. Hold on though, I have so much more to share.

The Paper Issues shop is stocked full of new collections including PinkFresh, Shimelle and Simple Stories. You can get all that and more for 20% off your purchase singly code, DEVRA at checkout.

Ready to Fly

There's a new Product Spotlight at Paper Issues today. I had to join the fun highlighting the WRMK Stitch Happy and all it's accessories!

I am not even going to pretend that I sew. That's why this machine is perfect for me. Paper is my jam, and now I can machine sew right onto mu layouts.  Today I played with the Metallic gold thread and the Mint Baker's Twine.  I could have stitched a border all the way around and called it done. Instead, I used the twine as the border for my page, letting it drop and twist as I unrolled the spool. I sewed over the twine using the gold thread and the small zig zag stitch in 3 places.

My choice with the twine and thread compliments the Crate Paper Oasis . It's loose, silly and free, like a California beach day.

I quite enjoy traveling by myself. It's a quiet few ours to do what I want, uninterrupted. I like being up ion the air, seeing the clouds, the sun, and all the surroundings. It's peaceful to me, not stressful. Especially when I'm traveling home.

Thanks so much of stopping by my creative view today. I've got some ideas swirling in my head, that will soon be put onto paper. Some back again to see what I made! You can get a StitchHappy and accessories in the Paper Issues shop along with mew PinkFresh! Use code DEVRA for 20% your purchase.

Friendship

Tuesday, August 15, 2017

Good morning! Tribes and tribal motifs seem to be fairly popular right now.  Did you ever realize you can be a part of more than one tribe? There's your family, but how about your tribe of friends, at work or school as well? Today at Get It Scrapped we are giving you scrapbooking ideas for telling your Tribe's story. Here is one of mine.

They say you can't go home again, but after 5 years we went back to visit our friends in our old neighborhood. It was as if nothing had changed between any of us.

We are a group of friends who became each other's extended family. We all met as neighbors, but became friends because of our children, who were all about the same age, with some siblings not yet born. We all became closer friends, sharing challenges and experiences with each other, as our children continued to grow up together. Many times, we relied on each other for help, advice and so much more. Although we have since moved away, and the kids are not as close and they once were, we still talk often, by phone, text and email.

This page is the result of the product choosing me, and not me choosing the product. I had a completely different idea in my head.  As I was flipping through my stack, I saw this paper. I cut it apart, selecting words that describe our tribe. I arranged them as best as I could to form a block that includes my photo. The words also act as embellishments so little else was really required. I even used the largest word, 'friendship' as the title.

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. Head over to the Get It Scrapped blog for more ideas and inspiration from the rest of the creative team. Stop by again later this week to see more from me.

Rock Star Parking

Sunday, August 13, 2017

Well hello there! Its Scraplift Sunday at Paper Issues. Today we are lifting this lovely layout by Rachel Lowe

Oh I knew exactly what I was going do do when I saw this! I'd been staring at the Rock Star part of the Freestyle Skate cut file and now I had my chance to use it. I combined it with some Bella Blvd Alex from my stash and all the mobility related embellishments I could find. I finished it off with that cool silver thread that goes with the Stitch Happy sewing machine.

I choose  to look alternatively. We call this Rock Star Parking. And we say thank you to our son for being our Rock Star.

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. Come back soon, I've always got something to share. Join the challenge and all the fun in the Paper Issues Facebook group

Dude is Chillin'

Friday, August 11, 2017

Wahoo! We made it to Friday! Free File Friday that is! Paper Issues has a library full of FREE cut files. Today we are highlighting any cut file that can be used as a title.

My title comes from the Freestyle Skate cut file. To be honest, I use 'dude' daily so it was easy for me to choose this. What I didn't expect to choose was Pink Paislee Summer Lights for this page! When I took a closer look at the Thickers, stickers and die cuts, I found icons and sentiments that were perfect! The peace sign hands, the 'chillin' die cut? I had to use them. To tie it all together, I sewed a border with the WRMK Stitch Happy using the grey Twine

I turned around one morning and found him on the couch like this. The funniest thing about it is he never sits on the couch like that! Everything about this is classic, and shows he pays attention to everything we do. That's where his brother usually sits!

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view this week. Come back again, I have so much more to share!  There's so many new collections in the shop. Treat yourself and get 20% off your purchase when you add DEVRA at checkout.

Yes! Im back again with another Paper Issues challenge, Pawsitively Pets. This month is all about our pets' adventures. Vacations, trips to the park, visits to the vet, just about anything.

The only way to do this page was with bright summer colors. Lucky for me, I have some! Pebbles Sunshiny Days and Echo Park Summer Dreams look great together. I mixed the big and small prints pretty randomly. Since the colors are so bold, I limited the embellishments. I played around with the title, using the WRMK Thickers alignment guide to curve it.

I love my dog. He loves the water. Only we didn't know it until our first visit to my Dad's house. There was no coaxing him into the water. He got right in. All it took was throwing a ball and he was jumping halfway across the pool. Over and over he jumped in.

Thanks so much for being here again at my creative view. It's a busy month around here so come back again soon! Theres new stuff in the shop this week. Get some for 20% off using DEVRA at checkout.

Boom!

Monday, August 7, 2017

Hey there and good morning! Welcome to the Paper Issues  new Issue : Summer In, Summer Out

What is Summer in, Summer Out? Well, here are some ideas: Show us your favorite summer activities, indoor and out; vacations/sight seeing/staycations, use the PI flamingo card.

It may be August, but it's never too late to share a 4th of July page! Fireworks are such a major part of  summer activities! So, this page came about because I got this song stuck in my head! It went from there to Pink Paisle Sweet Freedom, which led to the Boom! Fireworks cut file. Which led to this! I laughed at myself the whole time I was working on it. I was having way too much fun!

4th of July is one of my favorite holidays to celebrate. It's a true celebration of history and family. Its warm outside, the sun is usually out and the day is lazy and casual. What's not to love? I love fireworks and always have.  Our city does it's fireworks display a week later, which is ok with me. It's always a big deal to me to go see them. But this year no one wanted to go see them with me. I wanted to go anyway, so I went with my friends.

Check out the blog for more great ideas of Summer In, Summer Out. Then check out the shop for new releases that you can buy for 20% off when you use DEVRA at checkout. Thanks =for stopping by my creative view today. Come back again later this week. I have more to share!

Dance to the Music

Sunday, August 6, 2017

Hello Hello! Happy Sunday. Make that a happy Scraplift Sunday at Paper Issues! I'm on the blog today sharing my take on this page created by Cat.

Oh, this page spoke to me. I even saved Pebbles Girl Squad specifically for this layout. I found it quite liberating to just add layer upon layer of paper, die cuts and stickers. I usually hoard them! So many that I may not have featured were perfect to add here! This page was an absolute blast to put together!

I might add that these photos made this layout all that more fun to do. As I mentioned, the birthday scrapping has begun. I love music and I love dancing. Most of the time I'm listening to music when Im home working, and when I scrap. But on my birthday, we played a game, and it involved 80's music, so of course, there was dancing!

As always, thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today.  Pebbles Girl Squad as well as Halloween and Christmas are in the Paper Issues shop. Get some for 20% off seen you use DEVRA at checkout. See you again soon!

Berried

Saturday, August 5, 2017

I'm back again! Let's make it 3 days in a row! Today is one of our favorite challenges at Paper Issues. It's Sketchy Saturday. Here is this month's sketch

Believe it or not, I had a hard time wth this one! I don't know why either. So I would up with a very literal approach to the sketch and there isn't anything wrong with that. I grabbed a couple of colorful photos and a bunch of different Fancy Pants including Hello Sunshine and Dream Big and just began to cut and glue, layering and scattering asI went along. I'm pretty happy with the results.

I really am not an outdoorsy person. I appreciate nature's beauty, but prefer to look at it than immerse myself in it. But I really love fruit, especially summer fruit. When I learned of a raspberry farm nearby a few years ago, I went. Now its become an annual July tradition. I go for the fun and for the sheer fact that I can. It's raspberries for days afterward, in pie, jam and by the handful!

Thanks so much for being here with me and my creative view. Stop back again, I have so much to share. New Photo Play has arrived in the shop! Use my code DEVRA at checkout for 20% off your purchase!

Scenes From a Party

Friday, August 4, 2017

Happy Friday! The new Scrap Soup challenge is up on the Paper Issues blog. It looks like 3 is the magic number this month!

Joy Parade has been on my mind. Maybe because I have all these party photos to glue down. Well, that's where I began. I layered the 3 photos over the 3-3" squares cut from 3 different patterned papers. I scattered and clustered 3+ embellishments. I finished it off with 3 fonts. What a fun way to do a page!

Fair warning. I have begun to scrap my most recent birthday and all of the festivities surrounding it. There will be many pages of this event. This is only the beginning, the decorations!  My sister and husband planned everything. The only problem was they don't listen very well. I told them they could decorate, as long as they didn't use any numbers!

Well. this is a fun challenge and you should pick up a few goodies and join the fun. Go to the shop and use code DEVRA at checkout for 20% off your purchase. Thanks for stopping by my creative view today. There is so much more to share this month so come back soon.

Greenlake

Thursday, August 3, 2017

Hello there! It's my first August post and my first Paper Issues August challenge.  Notable Quotable is what's on tap today. Here is the quote we used for inspiration. I love the colors of  the sky and mountains. The quote written in white so you can see it clearly.  It's wonderful.

I was inspired by the water and fresh air part of the quote. Well, that and I really wanted to use the new Creekside by One Canoe Two with this photo. There is something about One Canoe Two that speaks to me. It's very sophisticated. The color palette is different. The colors are rich. The patterns range from small basic patterns to large elaborate florals and plaids.  Creekside can be used for any topic. Here I the backside of the Midnight Roses paper is the foundation of my page. I cut apart the strips from the Take Note paper, cut them in half again, placing them on either side of my photo. The rest are die cuts, stickers and Thickers. I love it!

This summer we decided to explore our own backyard. First stop was Greenlake park. We had driven by here a few years ago, but didnt stop. Call us crAzy. This park is beautiful. I think I read it's 3 miles around. There are paddle boats to rent, paddle boards also and a 'beachfront' area with lifeguards. That's just water activities! The park is huge, with many picnic and grassy areas. We walked about 1/3 of the way around, only because we didn't realize how big the park was. This will require a return visit for sure!

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. This is the first go many projects I'll be sharing this month to so I hope to see you back soon. Treat yourself to some Creekside or any of the other new American Crafts collections that recently arrived. They are 20% off when you use my code DEVRA at check out.
