Good morning! I love the topic on the Get It Scrapped blog today. Stitching. But using it in creative and meaningful ways on the scrapbook page. I stitch often on my scrapbook pages. I love how I can change the look by adding a small detailed touch or bold statements with color and design. 

For this page, I cross stitched a heart from the Shimelle Box of Crayons journaling tablet. It already had dots to create lines (like a bullet journal). This made it easy to poke the holes in the right places using a paper piercer. I hand stitched with a needle and embroidery floss.

The cross stitching and the heart represents what the 'red door' means. It's the Cardiac unit at the hospital. It's about healing hearts. It's stitched together. It's repaired. It's stitched completely. It's whole. It's full. It also represents my feelings of gratefulness and hope, as one 'crosses their heart' or 'counts their blessings'.

This is a story about perspective and feeling grateful for the way things are. Although I face many challenges with my family, things could be so much worse than they are.

You also know I like playing with product, trying to use them with purpose, but in unintended ways. I mixed together PinkFresh A Case of the Blahs and Let Your Heart Decide. I chose the embellishments that best described my feelings and helped to tell my story. I'm joining the Notable Quotable challenge at Paper Issues as yes, I'm always trying to look on the bright side.

Dream Chaser

Good morning! The January Notable Quotable challenge is on the Paper Issues blog today. This quote spoke to me so I jumped on this one!

The word 'dream' stood out to me, so that's where I began.  When I thought about paper collections for this, I decided Pink Paislee Turn the Page had what I was looking for. This collection has many inspirational sayings and icons perfect for this page. I grabbed all the blues & greens I could find, and began by cutting apart all the hexagons from paper #17. Then I layered some other papers behind the photo. I scattered all the stars from the Fresh Start Icon Thickers , adding a few pieces of ephemera. The title is a sticker, and says exactly what I wanted it to say.

My son is a senior this year, so we are all thinking about what's next. We all have dreams for him, but none are important if they are not his. Im not sure he knows yet what they are, but once he does, I know he wont stop until they are real.

Big Apple

Hey there! Back again today with a project for the Notable Quotable challenge.

This quote put me right in the fall mood. Out leaves aren't crunchy yet, and it's just cooling down now, but fall also means apple season around here. I started with the apple from the Take Note cut file and enlarged it. You know, to play on my title. I filled the apple with the Carta Bella Hello Fall  paper, also tucking and layering more under my photo. I love the Frames & Tags ephemera for adding bits of pattern . I added lots more bits including some of my favorite flair from A Flair for Buttons. and called it done.

So like I said, it's just cooling down the trees are changing color, but its definitely apple season here. Living in the state that produces the most apples gives us plenty of orchards to visit. After we pick our apples, we always visit the the rest of the farm, including the bakeries. Who knew the Caramel Apples would be so big?

Greenlake

Hello there! It's my first August post and my first Paper Issues August challenge.  Notable Quotable is what's on tap today. Here is the quote we used for inspiration. I love the colors of  the sky and mountains. The quote written in white so you can see it clearly.  It's wonderful.

I was inspired by the water and fresh air part of the quote. Well, that and I really wanted to use the new Creekside by One Canoe Two with this photo. There is something about One Canoe Two that speaks to me. It's very sophisticated. The color palette is different. The colors are rich. The patterns range from small basic patterns to large elaborate florals and plaids.  Creekside can be used for any topic. Here I the backside of the Midnight Roses paper is the foundation of my page. I cut apart the strips from the Take Note paper, cut them in half again, placing them on either side of my photo. The rest are die cuts, stickers and Thickers. I love it!

This summer we decided to explore our own backyard. First stop was Greenlake park. We had driven by here a few years ago, but didnt stop. Call us crAzy. This park is beautiful. I think I read it's 3 miles around. There are paddle boats to rent, paddle boards also and a 'beachfront' area with lifeguards. That's just water activities! The park is huge, with many picnic and grassy areas. We walked about 1/3 of the way around, only because we didn't realize how big the park was. This will require a return visit for sure!

Don't Grow Up

Hello there! Its time for the new Notable Quotable challenge at Paper Issues! Let me tell about this. We give you a quote, and you create a project inspired by it. It's that easy.  

So this month is a quote from Peter Pan about growing up. Yep. It was that easy. The Dear Lizzy Lovely Day Chipboard Phrase Thickers  include a sentiment that couldn't be more suited for this quote.  If yo know me, you Dear Lizzy isn't really my thing. But I have to say, these papers are working for me right now. I started with the phrase. I found a photo of my son that I could use to expand on that sentiment. From there I grabbed the Circle collage FREE cut file, thinking i could use it to frame the photo. And that it did. I love the B sides of Beep Beep, Dreamer, and Oh Hello . The and used them to back the file. The consistency of color of the watercolor prints, are so pretty and really are just the right shades for the photo. 

Time seems to be moving too quickly right now and I just want it to stand still, for all of us. For just a little while longer. He's at the point where he's trying to live his life and think about the future. I just want to let him be  kid for a little bit longer.
