Sunshine On My Mind

Saturday, September 14, 2019

Hey there! I'm excited to share my first September project on the Paper Issues Blog today. I created this layout for the Pinspire Me challenge.

I know, I know. you are looking at this, looking back at the board and wondering where in the world did she come up with this? Well, let me tell you. See that top right square? I was inspired by the layers of dots.

I started but cutting a stencil out of the Spraying Water cut file. I used gelatos and art crayons to color through the stencil. Then the layers began! I used lots and lots of Nuvo drops, then threw on some sequins that were in my swag bags to create the layers on the dots.  I used the Paper Issues Kits for the rest of the page. I love the versatility of these kits!

One of my favorite things to do at my Dad's house it to lay on the blue raft in the pool. Just me, the sun and the water. Pure relaxation.

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. Come back again soon, I have more to share. Catch me on Instagram too @thebeachygal

Home Sweet SLOme

Wednesday, November 28, 2018

Hey good morning! I'm up on the Paper Issues Blog today with my project for the Pinspire Me challenge. I love this month's board. It's so different!  Well, if you know me, you now I probably  took a different approach today....

So I know you are looking at my page thinking what does this have anything to do with the Pinspire Me board? Well, I was inspired by the brick wall and that became the design of my page.  I cut apart the Kitsch Fall paper from the Fancy Pants Yellow Door collection piecing it across the page to look like bricks in a wall. It was that easy! umm, maybe not that easy. I had to arrange them so it didn't look too busy. I wanted to use the die cuts , and stickers, especially that owl! How cute is he?

I know this is a fall line, but it goes so well with my photo! Bricks for the brick wall, the house for my son's new home and the wise old owl within coffee cup to help him study! See what I did there?

Yes, this is his new home, I still cant believe he's there and not here. I sincerely hope this quickly becomes his home sweet home.

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. Come back gain soon, I have more to share. Head over to the Paper Issues shop to get some Fancy Pants Yellow Door  of your own. You'll be happy you did. You'll be even happier the you use DEVRA at checkout  and receive 20% off your purchase, See you again soon!

Off the Page!

Good Monday to you. The new Pinspire Me mood board is up at Paper Issues today and it's pretty fantastic. It has color, shape, texture and theme! Everything you could want in a mood board.

Well, I love it. I was inspired by the overall theme of school and learning. I finally worked on a project I've been wanting to do for almost a year. I covered a wood iPad stand for my son. After several projects, I still had plenty of the Carta Bella Toy Box collection in my stash. What better product for this project! I used 3 different papers to cover the front and the back, covering it with several layers of waterproof Mod Podge. Then I added stickers, die cuts and chipboard pieces to make it look more fun.

Side View
I decorated the back side of it as well. How could I not use a die cut that said 'made with love'?

My son uses an iPad to communicate. It goes everywhere we do. There was a small stand that came with his case, but it quickly got lost, so we needed something else. He loves letters so I thought this could serve a purpose, but entertain him as well.

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. I have stuff planned all week so come back again tomorrow.

Hello! It's Pinspire Me day at Paper Issues and oh my goodness this months mood board is Ah-Mazing! Just look at those colors! I love everything about this. Well, I love summer, so of course I would. I stared and stared trying to decide which direction to go in. Paint? Beach? Pool?

At the very last minute, I settled on this. The popsicle. It really inspired the story behind the photo. Because of that, didn't want to use a summer themed collection, but I wanted to use color. So, Dear Lizzy Lovely day fit the bill. Color, plus sentiments I could use in a funny way from the stickers and ephemera. I think I'm in a navy phase. It seems fresh to me. So I used the B side of the Bunny Love paper for the background. I kept this really simple so the title and story could be seen. But really, without this mood board, I probably wouldn't have done this page.

This photo came up in the 'On this Day' reminder in my Facebook feed. I'd forgotten al about it. But yes, everything I wrote that day is true. I took every word and used that as my journaling. So popsicles. They aren't just for kids anymore.

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today! I hope you all love this mood board as much as I do. I also hope that when you shop at Paper Issues, you'll use my code DEVRA at checkout so you can get 20% off your purchase. There's so much new stuff! you really should go look!

Hats On to You

Monday, May 8, 2017

Well hello and good Monday to you! This is week 2 of May challenge reveals at Paper Issues. Today we have the new Pinspire Me mood board. I think it's spectacular.

I was clearly inspired by the blues. How could I not be with the Doodlebug Dragon Tails sitting in front of me! I love the playfulness of this collection. The fact that it's birthday themed made it perfect for these silly birthday photos. And dont go thinking its just for little kids. Nuh uh.

I started with the idea of the hats and remembered there's a free Birthday cut file in the shop too! To keep things simple after that, I cut and layered 4 papers and photos. The dragons in the die cuts and sticker sheet are really the best. I had to use them! A few little icons from the 12x12 sticker sheet and I was about done. I dont always use the cut apart sheets, but I really liked the way the multi patterns look under the white.

No matter how old he gets, he lets loose a little on his birthday. It probably helps that his grandparents are a great example of "never act your age". I love them for that. It probably also helps there's a ready made theme when your birthday is Cinco de Mayo,  So, another birthday in the books. This was number 15.

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today, It's going to be another busy week so stop back in again soon. Before you do, chock out the new Doodlebug or some of the other new collections. Use my code DEVRA at checkout for 20% off your purchase!

Happy & Content

Friday, April 7, 2017

Hello there! Yes! I'm back again. Today I'm sharing what I created for the new Pinspire Me challenge at Paper Issues. Check out this fantastical board!

There there is so much inspiration here! At first I thought, oooh, yellow. Then hot dogs.! Well, what really got to me was the font in the first column, middle square. So I grabbed the Amy Tangerine  alpha that it brought to mind and went to work!   I created a bright springy page using primarily the Good morning and Rise & Shine papers, tucking several tags and ephemera under and around the page. The alpha really ties it all together.

There are days I really wonder what he's really thinking. He got off the bus from school, and just sat down on the front step,  He was just so happy sitting, playing with his toys. It's not something he usually does, or has done many times since this day. But it sure was an enjoyable afternoon!

Thanks so much for being here twith me and my creative. view today! I hope you will continue to come back, I have so much more to share! Speaking of sharing, we want to see how your are Pinspired! Create something and share it on our Facebook group. Remember, when you shop for Oh Happy life or Nything else that Rick,es your fancy, use my code, DEVRA for 20% off your purchase.

You Call These Sprinkles?

Friday, February 3, 2017

Good Friday morning to you! Oh wow! The new Paper Issues Pinspire Me board is unbelievable!

Do you see those love birds! Oh, this board has so much inspiration!  Well, as you can see, I may have taken my inspiration from the center square, the sprinkles on the donuts.   This gave me an excuse to break out more of the Fancy Pants Joy Parade.  Oh, this line is so much fun! I started with the Sprinkle Some Joy paper as the foundation. I layered the Lighter Than Air , Happy to be Free and Wrap It In Color under my photo. From there I selected die cuts and puffy sticker embellishments that went with my story. That's one of my favorite things about this line. Although it is a 'birthday' line, it also has current sentiments and icons that go well with many themes.

When we lived in Illinois, our local DQ offered sprinkle dipped cones. I mean dipped in sprinkles, just like a chocolate dipped cone. Its not something we ordered often, but it put a smile on our faces when we did. After visiting there last summer, we decided to order the same thing from our DQ here at home. This is what we got. It most definitely was not the same!

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today! Im having a blast creating with all these yummy products. You can too and get them for 20% off when you shop in the Paper Issues store using code DEVRA at checkout.

Green Bananas & Shenanigans

Saturday, August 29, 2015

Hey there. I have so much going on here today. Nothing like waiting until the last minute. But, well, it's still summer at my house which means lots of time with my children, not so much time with my crafty supplies, let alone blogging. So here goes. These pages are inspired by both August challenges at Scrap Our Stash

First up is the PAPER stash challenge. (Now I remember why I waited so long to write the post. I wanted to retake the photo. Forgive the poor editing ;-) )

In our family, we like to make jokes about each others' silly quirks. In this case, it's my husband's  preference to eat only almost green bananas. No spots, not really yellow. Pretty much green. My son took it upon himself to snap this photo while the two of them were out shopping.  As I was searching for product to use, I remembered I had this Bella Blvd collection. The saying on one of the papers was perfect. I painted the words I wanted to highlight. The combination of yellow and green help tell the story as well.

Anyway, I used Polka Dots, Alphas & arrows, Paint (I painted the words green), Echo Park (the green background paper) and 3 tiny black Rhinestones.

Next is the sketch + stash challenge

I played around with the sketch a little by using triangles in place of the rectangular shapes. The rest of the design is fairly evident. I used stripes, Simple Stories and paint/mist.  I liked using a dog themed line mixed with colors and patterns from another line. The result is lighthearted and fun, like the photo.  Some Paper Issues Swag Bag pieces and Printables made their way onto the page, as well as inspiration from the August Pinspire me board.

Again, my son is showing me his sense of humor. Self Timer Shenanigans indeed. I left my phone at home while I went shopping. I came home to a giggling boy, who couldn't keep this to himself.  "mom, check your phone". So I did. He knows that if he does silly things, especially with my phone, it's going to go public at some point.  He didn't mind this time, and I love seeing him be silly.

Well, that's it for now. Thanks for looking at my creative view. Check back again later today. Ive got more to share.

Bottom's Up

Monday, July 13, 2015

Oh hello! Welcome to a busy week around here. That's ok, it means I had time to create! I'm starting off the week with the July Pinspire Me at Paper Issues.

This is such a pretty board. It's vintage, bohemian, and earthy to me.

I was inspired by the beverage pitcher on the table. Every summer, I make Sangria. I got the recipe about 20 years ago, from a friend of mine. It's the only recipe I make, and it is my most requested recipe to share.  This is the first glass I had this summer. I enjoyed my own happy hour outside on a hot afternoon.

To create this page, I used the new Simple Stories So Fancy papers and ephemera. I also wanted to use the new ColorCast Designs acrylic & wood pieces for the current Link party: Hey, Tech this Out!  Those additions help give the page some dimension. I also added tonal stitching along some of the pattern of the paper. The only thing I forgot to do? Add my little story I told above! I was excited to share my page.

I hope you will be excited by this Pinspire Me board as well. Please share it with us in our Paper Issues Friends and Fans Facebook Group.

Thanks for taking a look at my creative view today. Come bak again tomorrow, I have something else to share!

GoodTimes

Monday, June 15, 2015

Happy Monday! As I mentioned earlier, It s double post day for me. There is a new Paper Issues Pinspire Me board! I love this one. Well, if you know me, you know I LOVE summer. And bright colors, the beach, kids playing. Well, this board has it all!!!

Here is the layout that resulted from this overload of happiness.  It's been a long time since I've grabbed paper before a photo.  I highly recommend shaking up your process. I almost always start with my photos first.  But, I couldn't wait to play with some of the new Crate Paper Poolside collection. The colors are bright, but soft, vintage and modern at the same time. I wanted to work on clusters and layering, so I used a lot of the ephemera die cut pieces. One of my favorite pieces though, is the chipboard word Thickers.

All it took was this one photo of my son and I (mouths full of braces) in the pool at my Dad's house a few years ago to complete the page. The photo just represents the time spent together on a family vacation. I can't wait until we go visit again this summer.

Well, I'm off to create more with Poolside. You can get some too in the Paper Issues shop. Use my code BEACHGAL for 20% off your order
Thanks for stopping by my creative view today. There's more to share, so come back again.

Silly Boys

Sunday, May 17, 2015

Good morning! It is Pinspire Me Monday at Paper Issues. Shannon created the board filled with inspiration. There is truly something there for everyone.

I was inspired by the dark backgrounds in a few of the images. I had this series of photos of my son and his BFF being silly after spending a long day at our neighborhood Memorial Day picnic. They were so goofy! The looks on their faces, their interactions with each other were hilarious. I couldn't choose one or two photos. I needed to use them all.

I used a sketch from ScrapMuch?!  I didn't change it very much at all. It was perfect for what I wanted to do. I loved the stickers and die cuts from the Echo Park Jack & Jill Collection and thought it would be fun to use an abundance of them in one place.

You can find Echo Park and much more in the Paper Issues shop. Please use my code BEACHGAL for 20% off your order.
Thanks for stopping by my creative view this morning. It's going to be a busy week, so come back again

Home Team

Monday, April 6, 2015

Hey there! It's time to reveal the April Pinspire Me board at Paper Issues. Oh, do I love this one! Do you see all the Baseball stuff in there?!?!?!?

Oh yeah, I'm all over this one. See? Baseball. And I didn't even use baseball themed paper! Well that's because I just some new stuff last week from the Paper Issues shop. Specifically,  Bella Blvd Color Chaos . Especially those transparencies. Now I will say, It is a complete coincidence that the colors I bought would work so well together for this project. I had some scraps and a few pieces of leftover Swag Bag pieces that I layered and tucked and was pretty much finished.

So, yup, new city, new team, new gear and new ballpark. Our first game was a cold one, but thanks to the roof, a dry one. We walked around the whole park, ate all the food, and of course, watched the game! We had a wonderful time. Now we need to go back more often!

Thanks for stopping by my creative view today. Come back soon, there's always more to see.
