Happy Hanukkah!

Thursday, September 28, 2017

Hey there! I have such exciting news to share! I'm Guest Designing this week for PhotoPlay Paper featuring their brand new fabulous Happy Hanukkah collection. It's been several years since anyone created a line for hanukkah. It's so nice to be included in this years holiday release.

I started with a layout, well, you know, that's what I do best. I grabbed a few photos that to me best describe the holiday as a whole. I used all three of the papers, including cutting apart some the 3x4 cards into embellishments. I am so pleased with the selection of stickers I want to use so many! In the end, I used ones that went with my title.

Next I made a couple of 3D dreidels using cut files from the Silhouette store. I covered them with more patterned paper and the 4 Hebrew letter stickers that correspond to the Dreidel game. In all my years of Papercrafting, this is the first time I've ever had Hebrew letter stickers too use.

Next us are a couple of cards I  made. I try really had to be a great card maker, but the reality ism the ideas don't come to me as easily as they do for layouts. I do have to say, though, I'm pleased with myself with these two.

It is currently the week of the High Holidays, which include the Jewish new year and Day of Atonement. This first card means Peace, which is entirely appropriate for this time of year. How nice two be able to use this collection for other things other than Hanukkah.

This card was so easy to put together using the 3x4 cards, some paper and one sticker. It's simple, but says exactly what it needs to say.

Hanukkah is a celebration. We play games as part of the celebration. Lastly, I created a Bingo board. I designed the card on my Silhouette. I used all the small stickers I could from sticker sheet. I also cut some pieces out of the 3x4 cards. The Bingo Pieces are all cut up from the Shalom paper.

Thanks so much for being here with me at my creative view today. I had so much fun playing with this collection. If you are in the need of something like this, I highly recommend it. Good morning. Flatlay Photography! It's a super hot trend right now. You know what I mean right?  It's staging groups of items together, be it food, clothing  plants, coffee etc together, then photographing them artistically from above. Well, using Flatlay Photography to inspire scrapbook pages is also today's topic on the Get It Scrapped blog.

I found design and color inspiration for my layout from a few examples. For the actual
Design I was drawn to mixing a shape with my photos to create an 'almost' grid. Another example I was drawn to used a Color Story, and a third example had the items set in a Frame, creating a border around the edge.

We celebrate our son's birthday as much for our sake as his. Each year he seems to understand more and more that something special is happening. I'm not sure he understands the age part of it, but he sure enjoys the attention, loves when we sing Happy Birthday and for sure understands the presents part of the day!

Thanks so much for taking a look at my creative view today. There are some really creative projects from other team members in this article. Take a look, ou may be inspired too.

Shades On

Hey there and good morning to you! It's Swag Bag day at Paper Issues. Have you seen our Swag Bags? They are genius! It's a delightful mix of mostly 3x4 papers and embellishments from a variety of manufacturers put together to create a bag of fun!.

I had bits and pieces left from a few different bags today. I grabbed all the colors that went together, Well, ok. I grabbed all the pink papers, throwing in some contrasting ones like the yellow and turquoise. I cut them all into circles, layering them under my photo. So many patterns mean I don't need many extra bits, so i stuck on a few, again more for contrast and that was it! SO easy!

There was a TV show that I loved called Burn Notice, I loved it. The main character Michael Weston wore sunglasses all the time. When I wore mine, I would say I was channeling Michael Weston.

Well, Swag Bags make scrapping so easy. Get one for your self, or any of the other new collections in the store for 20 % off! Use code DEVRA at checkout.

Unfiltered

Oh hey there! I bet you thought I was taking some time off. Nope. Just a light week.  I am however, participating in today's Product Spotlight at Paper Issues.  It's all about Rainbows and Unicorns, or, collections the feature rainbows and unicorns.

So for me, I had to play with the incredible new Shimelle Glitter Girl. Holy moly this collection makes me smile. It's fun, it's pretty, it's silly, it's sophisticated, it's inspiring. I actually have a plan for using most of it, but today I went all out silly. The pink in the For the Win paper provided the color and print I wanted to house all the embellishments. I mean, the puffy shaker stickers alone had me giggling in delight. I didnt know which one to use first! Add the holographic ephemera, stickers, what tape and glitter thickers, and there's not stopping me.

Let's talk about Snap Chat. No, I don't really use it. I'll leave that to my son. But the filters sure are fun to play with! I only save the ones that make me laugh. The rest go in the trash. I wonder what we'll be playing with a few years from now?

Thanks so much for taking a look at my creative view today. I'll be back later in the week with more so stop by again soon.

In the meantime, you HAVE to get some Shimelle Glitter Girl. the best part is it's 20% off when you use DEVRA at checkout!

Fun TImes

Sunday, September 17, 2017

Hey Hey! It's my favorite kind of Sunday, Scraplift Sunday!  Today at Paper Issues we are lifting Damaris.

I liked of all the circles and thought they could be easily adapted. I had this idea in my head, and it included Carta Bella Toy Box. It got a little out of control,  I but I stuck with it anyway. My photos are larger, so that gave me less space to play with. I still was able to create some clusters up and down the angles of the page. It's just not as clean as my pages usually are. My favorite thing about this page is the ombre thread I stitched with my Stitch Happy machine!

Family game nights seem to be getting more and more rare in our house. I take full advantage of them when I have the opportunity. This one night in particular, Trivial Pursuit became more like gang up on Dad. We all had some good laughs though, and that's what matters.

Thanks for taking a look at my creative view today. I've got somethings up my sleeve for this week so stop by again soon.

Good morning! I'm on a roll this week! Cant stop now. I joined the Scrap Soup challenge at Paper Issues today. This month's board is really versatile.

I've been really inspired by the new Pink Fresh Boys Fort, so I started there. It's perfect for my photo anyway. Ten i just played with the rest. I cut three papers into rectangles, there are stickers, die cuts, twine, and wood buttons. One of the stickers is an arrow, and the tag is tucked under one of the papers. Easy peasy!

So my son and husband have been spending a lot more time together lately. It's been great for both of them. It makes me happy to see my son find comfort and be comfortable with Dad by snuggling on the couch.

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. I'm short and sweet today so I can keep creating! Im really loving this Boys Fort collection. you can get it in the shop now for 20% off when you use DEVRA at checkout.

Sort, Stack & Spin

Tuesday, September 12, 2017

Hello hello! I'm back again. See, I told you so. It's Try It Tuesday at Paper Issues. It had been a while,  since I joined this challenge. This was up my alley, so I played along. This month we are playing with  circles. Not just circles but creating them with mixed media.

I'm not a huge mixed media, messy paint person, but I wanted to give this a whirl. A few ideas floated around in my head, but nothing really took shape. This Pink Fresh Boys Fort was still sitting on my desk from another project, when I noticed the Tough circle paper on top of the pile. That's where it started. I fussy cut come pieces out of that paper. I cut the You Rule paper with the Bubbles cut file then I grabbed some circle stamps I've had in my stash for years and years. I stamped over, under and on some of the papers in a few places. It isn't a new idea, or even a stretch for me. But it did add some small details, and is something I don't do often enough.

My son has this math sorter thing at school. It's become as much of a toy as a learning tool for him. So much so, that his teacher sent home some of the pieces, and I built him the base on which he can  sort and stack to his heart's content.

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. I'm really enjoying Pink Fresh Boys Fort  way more than I thought I would. You should get some! You can get it for 20% off using code DEVRA at checkout.

Good Monday to you. The new Pinspire Me mood board is up at Paper Issues today and it's pretty fantastic. It has color, shape, texture and theme! Everything you could want in a mood board.

Well, I love it. I was inspired by the overall theme of school and learning. I finally worked on a project I've been wanting to do for almost a year. I covered a wood iPad stand for my son. After several projects, I still had plenty of the Carta Bella Toy Box collection in my stash. What better product for this project! I used 3 different papers to cover the front and the back, covering it with several layers of waterproof Mod Podge. Then I added stickers, die cuts and chipboard pieces to make it look more fun.

Side View
I decorated the back side of it as well. How could I not use a die cut that said 'made with love'?

My son uses an iPad to communicate. It goes everywhere we do. There was a small stand that came with his case, but it quickly got lost, so we needed something else. He loves letters so I thought this could serve a purpose, but entertain him as well.

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. I have stuff planned all week so come back again tomorrow.

Girl Friends

Sunday, September 10, 2017

Hey Hey! It's Scraplift Sunday at Paper Issues! Yep again. Funny how this happens every week! I love it though. Sometimes I feel like playing with paper but dont know were to start. Boom! The idea is handed to me!

Today we are lifting Rachel's LO that she created for Take 5 Tuesday.

I liked the angles in the original. I brought them in to the center of the page for my LO. That gave me a chance to use more of the delightful Pebbles Girl Squad papers.  I wanted to move the embellishments around, which I was able to do. I do much better with clusters than scattered embellishments. I did stitch on my page, but chose to use my Stitch Happy machine to stitch around the page. I love that thing!

I have a group of crafty friends that I get together with once a year for an always epic weekend. This year was no exception. We started the weekend off right with margaritas at lunch. That is not something I ordinarily do, but what happens at Camp, stays at Camp. Well, not anymore I guess! Oops!

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. Ive got big plans this week so come back soon!  Don't forget! You can go shopping at Paper Issues any time and use my code DEVRA at checkout to receive 20% off your purchase.

School Day!

Friday, September 8, 2017

Well hello there! Yes! we survived the first week of school! It's Fri-Yay!  It's Also Free File Friday at Paper Issues. We have 2 new FREE cut files going into the shop today. I used the new School & Sports file on my page today

I wanted to do something little different. After staring at this for a while, I came up with the idea to create my own background. I decided to dig out the old Silhouette sketch pens and start there.  My first idea was quickly becoming too complicated. I stuck with the sketch pens, only adding more colors. I cut the title, gluing it down, only laying the word sophomore over it's sketched version for emphasis. Like this so much I just may do the same thing for my older son's first day photos!

I purposely bought the new Elle's Studio Family Fun for this years back to school photos. If you haven't figured me out by now, I love bright colors! I am a sucker for primary colored papers and basic easy patterns! This collection is just that.

First day of school morning are a blur around here. This year seemed more crazy than usual and I was only getting one out the door. There was no time to get any before school photos so we had to wait until after school. He was so happy getting off the bus!  He cooperated. For the most part. He smiled. That's a win.  Another first day is in the books.  I can't believe he's a sophomore already. Hope its a great school year for him!

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. Now that school is back in session, I can get back into my routine. that means consistent craft time, and consistent blogging. This new  Elle's Studio is pretty fantastic. Get some in the shop while you can for 20% off using code DEVRA at checkout. See you soon

Well good morning to you this fine Labor Day Monday. Its a new month which means it's time for a New Issue at Paper Issues. Let's Give Them Pumpkin to Talk About why don't we?  Our Issues are so fun. There really are many many ways to interpret the themes. Here are some ideas to get you started:

anything to do with fall (apple picking, fall traditions, pumpkin patch)
favorite thing about fall
use a fall collection for a non-seasonal page......and the list goes on!

I was inspired by fall in general. I had the new Carta Bella Hello Fall to play with as well as some Simple Stories Hello Fall from last year. So that's pretty much where I started. After thinking through some ides, this one kept growing. I altered the Patchwork Pumpkin cut file by erasing the horizontal lines, filling it with larger pieces of patterned paper. The photos were originally one 4x4, but after finding that 'favorites for fall' in the Tags & frames, I cut them apart. I layered some other bits, then added some green for a bit of contrast. I love it and it screams of some of my fall favorites.

There used to be this cute little farm near us that had a fall festival near Halloween time every year. One of my favorite things about it was they had several new varieties of squash I had never seen before, complete with description of flavor and how to prepare them. They were so colorful and unique in shape. I not only took photos, we bought some as well.

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. This is a super fun Issue theme and I hope you play along with us, Too can find all of our September challenges in our Facebook group. You have until Oct 2 to enter your projects.

You can get this beautiful  Carta Bella Hello Fall and so much more in the Paper Issues shop. Use my code DEVRA at checkout for 20% off your purchase. See you again soon!

Good morning! It's my favorite day of the week! It's Scraplift Sunday at Paper Issues. Today we are lifting this delightful summery layout by Ann.

I just loved the design. It's so simple really, but filled with so many details. My photo is a little larger, the embellishments different shapes, but the design is the same. I grabbed the new Pink Paislee Turn the Page for this one. I liked all the sentiments about change in the ephemera, stickers and icon phrase Thickers.  I threw a few of the shaped sequins on to finish off the page. oh my they are so cute.

This is one of those photos that I can look at and know exactly what was going through all of our minds. I will always know when, where and why it was taken. It is full of emotion. All kinds of emotion. It brings me right back every time I look at it.

Thanks so much fir stopping by mu creative view today. Come back again, I have so much going on this month.
