Oh, if you know me, you know that I am a lifelong Calvin and Hobbes fan. Calvinball anyone?
Hmm, what's that you say? Why don't we make Calvinball a scrapbooking game? I'm in! Totally not my idea. I'm playing along online with a group of friends. The game begins March 1 and will run through March 31. I will be posting completed projects here on my blog all month and tagging them with Calvinball. Let the games begin!

Super cool scrappy goodness is coming your way! Let's Get Sketchy his celebrating it's 2nd Birthday! Come celebrate with us all month long. We will begin with a blog hop on March 1 that is sure to be filled with terrific inspiration and a few prizes as well.
Oh, I have more pages to share from my weekend scrap binge. This first one is using a sketch from Sketch -n-Scrap. I really need to remember to play there more often!

I did so many valentiney themed LO's this month. I decided to change this one up a bit.
I love this photo of my son. He's so silly when it comes to baseball. He loves the baseball parties and dinners, and all the fanfare he gets from his aunt, but he really could care less about the game itself!
I got brave and cut my own circle, then added the baseball stitch. I used a bunch of scraps for the rest of the page and a few baseball embellishments. I needed a contrasting color so I there in a bit of yellow. I love this page! But then again I do love my baseball....
I've got more pages to share. Stop by again tomorrow.

I had such an awesome weekend! I made 10 pages, and spend time with my family! I am in such a groove, I'm sad tomorrow is Monday and I have my family stuff to do! Im not going to share them all now, but will over the next few days. Both of these pages are also for the Love is in the Air challenges over at My Scraps & More as well.
I had a lot of help from some fabulous sketches. The first one I used is from a new challenge site called Stick it Down. Here is the sketch.
I had a lot of help from some fabulous sketches. The first one I used is from a new challenge site called Stick it Down. Here is the sketch.
Here is my page. I used lots of different wash instead of a chevron. I still achieved a feeling of movement with the colors and patterns
This is my son as we got of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland. To put it mildly, he did not like it...I wanted to convey this with bold, loud and chaos on the page, but in a contained way of course!
This next is a sketch from Stuck?! Sketches. I liked this sketch a lot. It's something I can use again.
This is how I used the sketch. I flipped it around and added some extra stuff. I love when I can use a sketch as a starting point, but you can still see the original sketch in the finished page.
My son loves to show off and when he does, he makes funny faces. I like capturing them and asking him what the faces mean afterwards. This time, he just said "I don't know"...Silly boy. So, I called it the Smirk.
That's all for tonight. I'll have more to share tomorrow. I'm not going to make my 28 posts, but I definitely will meet my 28 pages this month!

This is going to be an interesting post. Once again, as I continue further into the month of LOAD, I find that creativity & inspiration (or as we scrappy gals call it, Mojo) is easier to come by. It's everywhere. This layout is a perfect example.
It's reveal day for me over at ScrapStuffz' Insired By. We have a super fun photo to jumpstart your creativity.
Bear with me as this is going to get very mixed up. I changed my process by starting with the inspiration photo, then gathering the supplies I needed. The requirements of Scrap Our Stash challenge, is a bit of a recipe challenge, but using designated items beginning with the letters of the word SWAK, Stitching, washi tape, arrow, pre-made kraft embellishment AND the color red and/or pink. All of these led me to ideas on how to put this page together based on the photo. I started with the embellishment, the garland. The circles like the cupcakes and dots on the teapot, which led me to the printed kraft papers and chipboard that I layered like the stacks and patterns in the photo. That led me to the color red to use for the background, which finally led me to the photos, of them eating watermelon. Food, like the photo.
I used the arrow to point to the title and photo of my son. The arrow sits on a pice of washi that is also placed in two other areas on the page. Once I came up with the title, I drew a heart, then stitched over it.
This is completely backwards of my usual process that begins with photos. But incredibly liberating. I would encourage you to try something like this as well. This was definitely a spark to my creativity today. Please join us at ScrapStuffz' Insired By. I want to see how you are inspired by this photo!
Come back again tomorrow. The plan is to keep posting daily...

It's reveal day for me over at ScrapStuffz' Insired By. We have a super fun photo to jumpstart your creativity.
I first looked a while ago at this photo and said ooh fun. I decided to wait before starting on it to see where my mind wandered. I wound up using this photo in a multitude of ways. I loved the circles of the cupcakes, and wanted to find ways to get circles onto my page. The stacks going up became layers of paper, the different colors and patterns are the same with the patterns I chose as well as the color red. Lastly, the photos. They happen to be about food. Red food.
This also was a gray place to start for LOAD day 11. Today's prompt was a fun one for me. Change your process. If you start with photos, start with product, or story...Get the idea? So, I began with our inspiration photo for concept. I also seem use a lot of challenges during LOAD. As I browsed some of my favorite places to play, I realized that Scrap Our Stash current challenge went hand in hand with this photo. Putting the two together made the whole page come together in less than an hour.
I used the arrow to point to the title and photo of my son. The arrow sits on a pice of washi that is also placed in two other areas on the page. Once I came up with the title, I drew a heart, then stitched over it.

I am in a creative GROOVE right now! I would love nothing more than to lock myself away in my room for the weekend and just scrap until I'm all scrapped out, but, no, that won't be happening...
I have two pages to share today. Both use sketches from My Scraps & More. They both qualify for today's LOAD prompt-do pages have to be 8.5x11 or 12x12? The idea is to take yourself out of your comfort zone and try something new. I have tried and done 6x6, 8x8 and 8.5x11 as well as 12x24 (a 2 page 12x12 spread) and know that 12x12 and 12x24 are the way to go for me.
This first page uses My Scraps & More sketch #68. It is also my entry for the Love is in the Air Challenge #9-The Pinterest Inspired challenge. I was inspired by the wood in the blocks. I used papas with a woodgrain pattern in them as well as wood veneer embellishments. Bold? yes? Celebratory? Also yes!
Hopefully I'll see you again tomorrow when I post yet another LOAD page. 7 more days of my quest of 28 pages this month...

Our first date night after he was born was to a sushi restaurant. We took him with us in his carrier and he was fantastic. He even let us eat. Somehow, since he was 5 years old, he has always requested to go out for Sushi for his birthday. We went to that same restaurant every year until we moved. This is birthday #12, at a new restaurant, but still Sushi.
This next page is using My Scraps & More sketch #69. hot of the press today. Works for me. I reserve Fridays as my day "off" before the weekend. Also my entry for Love is in the Air challenge #8-My favorite things--My scrap room is a favorite place of mine...I flipped the sketch to be able too use a vertical photo, moved the title and used larger embellishments. Love the way it looks!
Not a great photo, but I had a leftover piece of Simple Stories PP that says "this is my happy place" I decided to tape it to the door of my scrap room. Silly, I know, but it seemed appropriate at the time. now when I look at it, I smile. Notice all the pink? A page about me requires a color other than red, blue and green!
I have to say, I have been so inspired by all these challenges. I don't think I will get to all 18 by Sunday, but so far, there are 5 more pages finished, so thank you My Scraps & More!

I finished all my work early today and treated myself to some scrap time. It's once to be able to spend some time scrapping, instead of cramming the scrap time into my day.
Lots of inspiration went into this page today.
I began with a sketch from Scrap Our Stash, including heart patterned paper, pre-made heart and arrow embellishments. I'm also playing along in an online crop at MyScraps & More. One of the challenges is to use a foreign phrase on your page. That ties into today's LOAD day 20 prompt is to include a quote or saying from a random source.

One of the challenges is to use a foreign phrase on your page. That ties into today's LOAD day 20 prompt is to include a quote or saying from a random source.
Combining all three challenges helped the decision making process for me. I saw the photo and decided on the title right away. "I love you my children". Not original, but yes random. My son is learning Spanish this year. It is bringing so many memories back to me from when I learned French. He will say something in Spanish and I will answer in French.
I didn't stray from the sketch very much. The hearts worked for the rest of the theme of the page. I stuck with neutrals for the most part because of the colors and pattern in the photo. The pre-made heart is under the title. It was a banner, that I broke the toothpick off of. The arrow is pointing to the #2 embellishment.
I'm more than happy with this. Stop by again tomorrow when I have more LOAD (and possibly other) pages to share.

As promised last night, I am catching up on posting the past few days of LOAD. I need to share 14-17, but one of the days will get a post of it's own...Most of these I did not use the prompts, but a page done still counts...so here goes.
Day 14
I did use the prompt of what other supplies do you use besides scrapbook supplies...Well, I added staples and a paper clip to this page. Those would be the two I use most frequently.
This is a page kit from a class I took last fall. Works like a charm when I am limited on time.

Day 15
Another page kit, but no prompt followed on this one. Nice to have some Disney photos to go with the papers
Day 17
Only slightly near the prompt to use a similar design to a pay you've already created. Since this is from a page kit that I've already used once, you could kid of say I used a similar design....
As you can see, I skipped Day 16. I will be back to sure that one soon. Stay tuned!

I'm back. Had a forced few days off, but I've still been keeping up on LOAD! I'm sharing Day 18 today and will catch up with the past few days in my next post.
I'm also participating in a world wide scrap tournament. I'm on TEAM USA and we are competing against countries from Canada to Australia with Europe in between. Somehow I made it into the second round!
Challenge 2: Create a 2 page LO. Ok, no problem. Then I kept reading...use one color. Monochromatic. Again, I've done that before. Oh wait, no white whatsoever. that mens no polka dots. Hmmmm. Ok, and no black, ink or anything. One photo has to be black and white and one photo has to be split onto both pages. Ok, that I don't do. Well, I'll give it a whirl. It's all about getting out of my comfort zone.
I was trying to decide where to start. Color or photos. I wound up landing on them at the same time. If I do turquoise, I can use these photos, and these photos I could split over the two pages, and change one to black and white. Done.
Of course I didn't have any tonal patterned papers, so in order to give the page some interest, I used a stencil with mist, to create the background. I stamped some banners with a darker turquoise ink at the top then stamped again on a different shade of paper, cut them out and layered them on top. After I placed the photos, I decided to use pop dots under the black & white photo. Under the photos, I painted some swooshed to look like water splashes as well as painting the title. Lastly, there are turquoise boing scattered above and below the photos. It's different. It was fun. Now I wait to see if I make it into round 3.
I'll be back tomorrow with some LOAD pages from the past few days.

Good Monday to you! I like Mondays how about you? Oh I have a silly little page to share today, courtesy of Let's Get Sketchy and the Feb week 3 reveal.
Here is the sketch:
Here is the sketch:
and here is my version.
Yup. Flipped it again. I wanted to accommodate a vertical photo. I used some busy and colorful papers, so I chose not to add a ton of extra elements. I freehand cut the papers off to the side, adding a small triangle in the lower right for balance. It felt kind of pale and lost, so I faux stitched to ground the photo. I went a little overboard with the little bits, but all in all it looks pretty good. I even had a little fun by putting the title at the end of the journaling.
Come share your pages inspired by this sketch in the Let's Get Sketchy week 3 link.

I love LOAD! I love finding some time everyday to create a page. The most amount of time I give myself is an hour. I love that I make quick decisions and stick to them. I love that this builds confidence to continue this process when LOAD is over. But most of all, I love that I will have 28 new completed LO's. I also like combining ideas from other sources, as I have done again today.
Speaking of LO's. I have one today to share for the Sketches in Thyme #123 reveal. Here is the sketch
Speaking of LO's. I have one today to share for the Sketches in Thyme #123 reveal. Here is the sketch
Such a versatile sketch! I love it! Here is what I created.
Yes, I knew what photos I wanted to use when I saw the hearts al over the sketch. Also, because LOAD day 6 prompt is No journaling. Use supplies to support the story you tell with your photos. Well, alrighty then. This works well together! I started the page by flipping the sketch on its side. I knew in this particular paper collection were these large letters. I cut them out, traced them, hand stitched around them, then used pop dots to raise them within the stitching. Title + photos =story! Throw in a few heart embellishments (which are hard to come by in my stash) and that was about it! I did add the journaling after the fact. There is a cute little statement that works well for a challenge at My Scraps & More...
Thanks for taking a look today. I am on track with LOAD, just a little out of order... Head over to Sketches in Thyme and join our sketch challenge this month.

Here I am again. Time to share LOAD day 13. I know 2009 is going to be an interesting year to scrap. Lots of ups and downs this year and I'm still to sure how I want to approach documenting everything. Fortunately for me, it's my decision.
Back to today's prompt. It's a fun journaling prompt of using lists, bullet points etc. Ways to journal without having to write a complete story. I will be short on time for the next several days so page kits are going to be my friend, if I want to keep up.

I bought this kit a while back> i loved the colors of the papers, but not sure what I wanted to use it for. I thought the colors were great for these photos, as well as a general family feel to them. Yes, I have stepped away from my baseball papers for the time being...
Since the photos are all different but from the same event, I asked a question in the journaling:
"what should we do?" A-watch the game, B-sit with uncle, C-pose for photos. Easy, peasy, done!

Oh yeah, ain't that the truth. AKA "who do you think you are? Evel Knievel? Yes, I had fun with this one and got to play along with a few more challenges. Today's LOAD prompt is to make your own embellishment. I did not play along with this prompt today. Short on time and needed to use it wisely.
But the ideas for this age come from 123 Get Scrappy and My Scraps & More. The item I used from the board at 123 Get Scrappy are balck background, polka dots and more than 2 clusters. The title is from My Scraps & More.

Oh this title is perfect and the bold papers as well. They kind of add to the chaos of the photos. I haven't done a page like this in a while, but I was determined to use the photos I had, with out resizing and reprinting them. I did start with balk cardstock, but covered most of it in patterned paper. There are lots of polka dots and I did create 3 small clusters around the edge of the page. It was fun just putting random items together to create a cohesive cluster.
Come back again tomorrow when I post LOAD #13...

Well, I got a little off on writing, but the page creating is still on track. That's what can happen when there is a sick child in the house. Oh well, so catching up on the last few days of LOAD...
Day 8-Create a photo less page. This gave me the push I needed to begin working on a project I've been putting off. This is such a special event, I want all the pages to be perfect. I don't want to make a mistake. I know that isn't possible, so I just began.

Day 9-Ask someone else for your staring point. The photo, story, supplies. I asked my son to choose what I should do and he chose this photo. Again, it is part of the event and an extraordinarily special photo of he and his Great Grandmother holding hands. The title represents the older and younger, 1st and 4th Generation. There will be some words written eventually, but I have to sort through my emotions first.
I scraplifted a LO I saw on the My Scrap & More blog. I wanted something simple. The meaning needed to remain on the photo. I'm happy with the results.
Day 10-Use black and white only. No prompt for me on this page. Yesterday was quite the busy day. I'm fortunate to have had the 15 mint to put this together at all. Thank goodness for those unfinished pages I have sitting in my bin! I grabbed a Scrapbook Generation page kit, a few new photos, a set of letters, and called it a day. As Lain says "Done is better than perfect"
So, now I'm caught up and have to finish today's project. Stay tuned. It may be a 2 post kind of day!

Post number 7 of the month...I'm still plugging along, creating a page a day, and pulling inspiration from several different sources. First, LOAD day 7- scrap somewhere else than the place you call your "scrap space". I lugged my supplies down to the family room and created this page on the coffee table in the family room.
Second, I also find myself involved in the Supreme Scrap Tournament. It is a month long world wide event. Our first challenge was to create a 2 page layout featuring photos of things within 1000 steps of our home. Other criteria are, at least 50 words of visible journaling, at least 3 photos and no spray mist. That was a hard one for me!
I don't like when I have to take photos to meet criteria for a challenge, but this time, I had to. I took photos of things around my neighborhood while out walking our dog this week.

Basic grey is one of my favorite paper companies, so I have quite a few of their collections. However, I also use it often on my pages.
Well, here it is. My LO using OLD Basic Grey, the Lime Rickey collection, circa 2008, !

There was this baseball card/memorabilia shop that my husband used to go called Dean's Dugout. Sometimes he would take out sone with him. Well the owners wife, who we just called Mrs. Dean, LOVED him. She asked how old he was (2) and then asked if he had a favorite player yet. He proceeded to say "Nomah Gacaparra".
I knew these were the right papers to support this photo. The hot pink in the photo needed some company. And how else was I going to use those doilies? Since the different titles are also questions, the speech bubbles seemed to be an appropriate choice as well. The idea for the different title areas come from My Scraps & More
That's all for tonight. Need to finish up my Day 6 LO so I can post it tomorrow!

Pretty sure I've used this title before. It probably won't be the last time either. Good morning and welcome to post 4 of the month of 28 posts.
Today's LO is for a plethora of challenges. I love it when that happens, and it hasn't happened in a while!
First and foremost, today is reveal day at Child's Play Challenges. This first challenge for the month is inspired by one of my favorites special shows as a Child...Who doesn't sympathize with Charlie Brown???

I dont do a lot of Valentine pages, so I went with the boy and his dog. If we are on the couch, so is he, as close to us as he can be. I've decided our dog is more human than dog. If we go to the dog park, he goes and says hello to all the humans before running around checking out the other dogs. So yes, happiness is a boy and his dog.
I mentioned this is for a few other challenges as well. LOAD day 4 was to to a page in a short amount of time. Well, this took about 40 minutes. Thanks to a sketch at Stuck! Sketches (my first time plating there), a recipe prompt from My Scraps & More and a self imposed stash challenge to use a lot of Basic Grey paper this month. Go check out these blogs!
The recipe is tags, torn paper, an arrow and a frame. The edges of the striped strips are torn, the frame is tucked under the corner of the photo. The tags are my journaling spot, and well the arrows...Here is the sketch.
So that's it for me in a very large nutshell today. Please come join our Charlie Brown Valentine challenge at Child's Play Challenges! We want to see what you can create!

If you are looking for Feb 3 Let's Get Sketchy reveal, please go HERE.
Hey there-Before I get to my LOAD page for day three, I've got some cool scrappy news to share. 123 Get Scrappy is having a DT Call. Have you played over there? Totally fun! You should go check it out! I missed the January board because I was sick, but have played along since they began last fall.
Now on to my Day 3 of LOAD. A page with no title. WHAT? No title? They are the best part of my pages! I punt all my humor into my titles! ok, well I totally cheated on this oe, but a page done, is a page done. I used a Scrapbook Generation page kit to complete this challenge. Most of the pages use the embellishments as the title. So that's what I did!

I probably should have retaken the photo, but that's ok. I had designated these photos to this kit a while ago. We don't camp, so fishing at Papa's pond was as close as I was going to get. I used as many reverse sides of the papers as possible to make it look less campy, more outdoorsy. And you can see, no real title. Glad that's over....
Stay tuned to tomorrow for LOAD 4 & 5 and a new Child's Play Challenges reveal!

Today is reveal day at Let's Get Sketchy. We have a great sketch to work with and I had a lot of fun with it.
I had this photo printed in 5x7 a long time ago, and it's just been sitting in a photo box. He finally lost his first tooth in January 2009. It was really loose and we were afraid he was going to swallow it, so we had to pull it out.
First of all, I used a larger photo and centered it on the page. I layered the banner, also centering it under the photo. Instead of a full fledged banner at the top of the page, I cut the paper, opened it and slipped another paper behind it. I used twine to hold the flaps open. I played up the red as a weightier color as well as contrast to the colors in the photo. All the patterns are busy together, so I limited the embellishments, but I did add the arrow clip pointing at his smile.
I can't wait to see what you come up with using this terrific sketch at Let's Get Sketchy.

Hey There! Feb is one of my favorite months when it comes to scrapping. For the 3rd year, I am participating in Lain Ehman's LOAD-Layout A Day. I love it. I get in such a groove and the ideas just start pouring. And all from one little daily prompt. As an added extra, I'm going to blog daily about my pages.
Yesterday went haywire, and I didn't get to start my page until after 7:30, so there was no blogging. Today is a two-for one.

LOAD 1-Bad photos
Sweet Day
I grabbed some papers from a Scrapbook Generation kit and used a different SG sketch. Perfect for a short amount of time to get a layout finished. Took the photo indoors at night and have not retaken it. All of the photos in the layout were reddish in color from being taken indoors in fluorescent light. i had to use them, They were the only ones I had of this day. No, I am not afraid to use bad photos. i do it frequently. I am not a good photographer! One and done.

LOAD2-Little things
It's the Little Things
Again, taken inside tonight, so not a great photo. My son loves to read. This is a stack he brought home from the library this summer. He's loved to read since the moment he learned how. I have to ask him to stop reading and I don't take that for granted. Not really a little thing, but something to notice, remember and appreciate.
I used a sketch from My Scraps & More for this page. It is also part of my self imposed stash bash this month, focusing on using Basic Grey paper. I have a lot and want to buy some of the new releases. But, I need to use some older collections first!
