Hey there! I'm all caught up so the rest of the month is scrapping whatever I please. Today is all about Scrap Our Stash. I am sharing pages I made for both July challenges today.

This first LO is based on the Stash challenge. Find inspiration from the book "Oh the Places You'll Go" by Dr. Suess, using 5 patterned papers and a circular element. I did this right after we got home from vacation after July 4. It's a Sketch from Paper Issues and wow, it got my mojo going!

I don't know where he thought he was going, but he booted his Uncle out of the captains chair and took over the wheel. I'm guessing he was discussing his plans with Hank the Bulldog, but we didn't catch what they were saying. I can tell you that Uncle Brian had to jump back in to steer, because we clearly weren't going where we were supposed to!  So yes, Oh the Places You'll Go!  There are 5 patterned papers, (wood, plaid, star, triangle, dots) a few round brads and a round sticker.

This next page is for the Sketch +3 challenge.  I used Simple Stories (game card die cuts), Theresa Collins (my guy and hexagon stickers) and Uniball pen (doodled lines on navy paper and around 'notes' above photo). I saw this Preppy Plaid cut file at The Cut Shoppe and loved it. It was perfect tot use as the background for this page.

While waiting at the doctors office one day, my son grabbed a coloring sheet and started coloring. I couldn't remember the last time he did that. It just struck me that as fast as he is growing up and becoming more independent, I was so happy to see a part of him that was still a little kid.

Hello! I have here today the newest challenge at Picture This. Are you ready?

2 PHOTOS + POLKA DOTS + FAMILY

Two photos, no problem. Polka dots, also no problem and this page is all about family.  I actually ket the polka dots in the background. Literally. It's the red background paper. The banner is also polka dots. I used a bunch of 3x4 cards from a family themed collection to create the quilted matte under the photos. It another nod to the theme of the page.  Add some embellishments  that also speak to family and the page is complete. 

I chose a sketch from Boys Rule Scrapbooking as the design of the page. I used full 4x6 photos so the entire layout design is extended. I love the end result.

I love these photos and will probably scrap them again so I can tell a different story. For now know that these are the last photos of my son and Grandfather together. I look at them with joy and sadness at the same time. For the most part, that's what the journaling says.

It's time for a new challenge at Picture This. This time, there are only two required elements:

3 photos + vertical placement

I actually found this to be an easier concept to tackle. I use a vertical placement often, with varying numbers and sizes of photos.  Now I just needed a design nudge so the page didn't look like some of the others. I went to the Get It Scrapped template archive and found this sketch from the 3 Acts Scrapbook Coach class.  I flipped the sketch, resulting in my layout below. The photo quality isn't great. I chose small patterns in primary colors on a neutral background to make them look a little better. The two smaller clusters create a visual triangle. One of the clusters is grounded by bleeding off the edge of the page. The Title cluster is grounded by the small ledge of paper.

I also used the required elements for the current Scrap Our Stash WASHI challenge. I used Washi tape, Alphas, Spray Mist, Handwritten journaling, and inked edges

I found some old rolls of film and had them developed. Only a few of the photos were viable. They were all grainy though. I reprinted these in smaller sizes and the quality improved.  Once again I m reminded of all the ways that he explored his environment. To most people, this is a child getting into mischief. To me, he's learning something new. He's wondering what happens when he pulls the laundry out of the basket. To me it's an opportunity to teach him "give me". To me it's a reminder of how far he has come, how much he has learned. It is also a chance to see what he still likes to do.

All About the Beard

Hey there. I have a fun page to share today. It's a reveal for both ScrapStuff'z Inspired by and also Child's Play Challenges.  Kinda crazy, but my page is a bit of both.  

We have a really fun photo to get you going at ScrapStuff'z Inspired by .  And the inspiration for  Child's Play Challenges is Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer!

How fun is that photo? Crazy lights everywhere. And what did I do with it? I went traditional! I don't often do Christmas pages at all. So, when I see Christmas lights, I think of Christmas and all the red, green and trimmings that go along with it. 

While I was thinking about Christmas, I thought about how my parents always let my sister and I watch the Christmas TV shows.  Rudolph was my favorite.  I actually identified with Rudolph. As someone who didn't celebrate Christmas, I always felt different too!   I came across this photo, and voila, a Christmas page inspired by both challenges! 

This is the first and only time my son ever sat on Santa's lap, so it's also the only photo.  It was at a huge holiday party at his school after an exceptionally special fall event.  We weren't sure what he would do. Would he get off, yell, cry? What we didn't expect, was that the would laugh, giggle, then pull the beard all the way off Santa's face!  We had to go help rescue Santa. Then our son tried to do it again! Needless to say, he enjoyed meeting Santa and we have a great story to go along with the photo

I only used scraps for this page in traditional red and green, but I accented with black and gold. I chose to use a black matte, so the colors in the photo would stand out. Red under the photo seemed to work best with the red in  the photo as well.  I did use 2 shades of green, darker at the edges of the page, lighter under the photo, for contrast.  The banner is a direct nod to the lights strut around the truck.  I loved the black chalkboard tape. It is such a stark contrast, it keeps the eye at the photo. I also dipped the edges in gold glitter.  A few added sequin sparkles and sprinkles of gold and green mist and that was pretty much it.
