Valentine Mini Book

Thursday, February 18, 2021

Hey Hey it's never too late to celebrate Valentine's Day. Yes! Today it rhymes!  I love Valentines Day! To me it's a day to celebrate the people in your life that you love. I'm having so much fun with this on this month's LOVE themed challenges.

Today I'm on the Paper Issues blog sharing a mini album I made for the It Started Out Small challenge. Yep, I am that dork Mom who sends homemade Valentine's to her son in college. This year I made 14 pages little cards, one for each day until Valentine's Day, then bound it into a mini album. I used pieces from Swag Bags and Valentine's Day Collections from Crate Paper and Pebbles.

I grabbed a bunch of 3x4 cards, and cut some more. Let me tell you about my favorite new tool-the 3 way tag punch! I think almost every card has a tag on it. If I didn't have an ephemera tag, I made one! I just layered hearts tags and other embellishments. Super simple, and a great way to mix and match old  and new things in your stash!

Thanks so much for stopping by today. You can find this and all of our challenges in the February Challenges album in our Facebook Group. Shop all new Simple Stories and Echo Park Valentines collections in the Paper Issues store. Use DEVRA at checkout for 20% off your purchase! See you again soon!

Love Ya'

Friday, March 15, 2019

Hey there! Im on the A Flair for Buttons blog today showing off the ever so versatile Linen Polka Dots flair. When I add flair to my projects, I usually grab pieces from different sets that fit whatever mood or theme I'm trying to convey. Today however, is not the case.

This floral wreath cut file from The Cut Shoppe is backed by so many patterns, I needed to find a way to make it feel cohesive, without making it any more busy! Using the coordinating colors and  simple polka dot pattern does just that. It adds dimension too!

So that's my tip for today. Don't be afraid to use flair from the same set on your page!

Love Like Us

Friday, February 8, 2019

Hey there and good morning! I'm on The Cut Shoppe blog today sharing this layout featuring the new In My Notebook cut file. All I can tell you is this one piqued my curiosity and I had to play with it right away.

Well, my first thought was, "what do I love, what do I like?". Nope, that wasn't working for me. I scratched that right away and went with a more 'heartfelt' theme using a family photo instead.  I mixed a bunch of Valentine collections from Pebbles and Crate Paper to cut the file as well as back the words LOVE and LIKE. I even used the open space to the left of the photo to add some journaling strips. I feel like that space was made for journaling!

I cut the word US using the Open Letter Alpha and did the same thing, backing it with paper. I think it works pretty well!

The last thing I did was replace the center of the 'O' with a piece of A Flair for Buttons Just Hearts 1 flair. Perfect right?

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. I have so much going on I don't know where to begin! Check back soon to see what Ive been up to. You won't be disappointed!  In the meantime, check out The Cut Shoppe for some great new Valentine cut files.

Exhale

Monday, January 7, 2019

Hey there! I'm on The Cut Shoppe blog today sharing a layout I made using the Freebie FriYay Diamond in the Rough  cut file.

I've been eyeing this cut file for a while, really wanting to stitch it. I decided it was time to use it! All I had to do was figure out the rest! Which I eventually did. I'd also been wanting to play with this One Canoe Two Goldenrod collection. It wound up being a pretty good match. Nice muted, calming colors to go with a photo of me relaxing.

I resized the cut file to 10"x10" hoping the 'holes' would be smaller. No such luck. I doubled the embroidery floss which helped fill the space and add more color. I like that there are still gaps between each stitch. Layering a whole sheet of paper behind it fills in the gaps nicely.

This background came out so beautifully, I didn't want to cover it up. I layered a few pieces of paper under one photo, adding minimal embellishments so it would be a focal point of the page. The Let Them Eat Cake (aqua) and Lovely Words 7 had the same calming feel as the rest of the page and added the perfect finishing touch.

Thanks for stopping by my creative view today. Have you checked out the new shop yet? You can shop for all of our cut files there. Share your projects with us in The Cut Shoppe Scrap Spot Facebook group.  See you again soon.

Red White & Blue

Thursday, July 19, 2018

Hey there! I have a fun, silly project on the A Flair for Buttons blog today.

The giant title says it all!  It's the FREE 4th of July cut file from Paper Issues.

I used flair from 3 different sets to complement each color.

What a perfect pair, The Selfie flair from the Comic Words 1 set sits right next to, you guessed it, our selfie. Tucked next to the white like a fireworks burst is a piece from the Noted Flair 1set. Lastly, next to the bottom photo I had to use a piece from the Stars & Stripes set. It has all three colors tying them all together.

I used  Pebbles Land that I Love because it's, well, Red, White & Blue! I cut the words from some of the patterned papers. I chose the fireworks and flower stickers to keep it light and colorful.

A co-worker and I came to work in almost identical outfits. Of course we had to take a photo. So then of course I had to scrapbook the photos!

Thanks for taking a look at my creative view today. Come back again soon I'll have more to share. You can get all of these flair and more in the A Flair for Buttons  Etsy shop.

Make a Wish

Friday, April 6, 2018

Hey there! I've got my game on this month and am on top of my blogging. All that really means is I've been scrapping and that's been fun!

Today I played along with the Paper Issues Bossy Scrapper challenge using the April Swag Bag
Here is what the Bossy Scrappers told us to use today:

Here's the deal. If you don't know or have never used a Swag Bag, you are missing out. It is pure genius. It is a small kit filled with 4x6 & 3x4 pieces of current patterned paper, as well as a variety embellishments, and sometimes special surprises! I love them.  I've used it for two projects already!

So let's talk about this one. When I opened my Swag Bag, I saw all the bright colors and some birthday themed stuff. I grabbed a piece of patterned paper that coordinated with the bright colors. I laid out 6 of the 3x4 pieces, overlapping in places. See how cool that looks? They all coordinate! So easy! I took out my fringe scissors to add some more party flavor. That was the perfect touch. Everything else on the page is also straight out of the Swag Bag. I stamped on the polka dots. I cut the banner in half, using it in 2 places. The Make a Wish is the pre-made title, the file tab is over the photos and there are pieces of ephemera and stickers as well.

I opened a box of childhood photos and came across this one of my 9th birthday. This was the year of the dress up game, and finally a year without a clown cake.

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. I have a lot more to share this month so come back again soon. Need some inspiration? Amy Tangerine and Elle's Studio have arrived in the Paper Issues shop. They are 20% off using DEVRA at checkout.

XOXO

Sunday, January 21, 2018

Good morning! It's Scraplift Sunday at Paper Issues! Today we are lifting Elodie! I love this. to me it's a great design that can be lifted directly, or adapted so may different ways!

I didn't change it very much. I added several more tags, layering and embellishing them. Extra layers and die cuts around the photo too. I wanted a soft but playful feel to the page and it turned out exactly the way I wanted.  Pebbles Forever My Always made all of this so easy to do so. The little touches of kraft and mint are a perfect contrast to the various shades of pink. The woodgrain heart A Flair for Buttons fits right in, and stands out at the same time.

My sister and my son. Aunt and nephew. Their love and affection for each other is always present and evident. I love watching them together.

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. I'll be back this week with more to share. Head over to the Paper Issues shop to get yourself a treat. It's always 20% off when you use DEVRA at checkout.

Try It Tuesday

Tuesday, January 9, 2018

Hey hey and good morning! Today I'm playing along with the January Try It Tuesday at Paper Issues. This month, in honor of celebrating the New Year, we are asking you to use some sort of party supply on your projects.

Well, what's better for a party supply challenge than a birthday card featuring straws and Pebbles Happy Hooray!  I saw a card idea like this on Pinterest a while back and it stuck with me. . I couldn't find it, but decided to give it a whirl anyway.

I cut 8 4x4 pieces of patterned papers, embellishing them with stickers, puffy stickers, and pieces of ephemera. I attached long pieces of yardstick to he back of the cards, folding them into an accordion. Lastly I adhered the Happy Thickers to the straws, then glued the straws to the back of the card. Something fun to do because it was different for me!

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. I'm doing my best to keep things fresh around here. Come back again later this week, I'll have more to share.

Happy Hooray and so much more is available in the Paper Issues shop. Always use DEVRA at checkout for 20% off your purchase!

Toot Toot

Monday, December 4, 2017

Monday Monday! It's New Issue Monday at Paper Issues! Join us this month for all the Holiday Happenings you can think of. Need some ideas? Try some of these:

December holidays, pictures of holiday décor (lights, tree, menorah, etc.), favorite gift, holiday menu, cookie decorating, gingerbread houses, winter activities.

My page is inspired by a tradition in my husbands family. I don't have the opportunity to make many Christmas pages, so it was a treat for me to play with Pebbles Merry Merry and Crate Paper FaLaLa. I love the Twinkle paper was very excited about that little elf in the die cut package! I did get a bit cheeky with the music notes from the Have a Ball cut file. But oh well, it made my point!

When my husband was a child, every Christmas he had to wait on the stairs until his Dad blew a horn letting him know it was ok to come downstairs. Well, he tried to implement the same tradition in our family. It didn't work so well. Especially when he had to ask our son to blow his own trumpet!

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. Check out the Paper Issues store for all of your holiday paper shopping needs. Everything is always 20% off when you use DEVRA at checkout.

Meet Phillip

Sunday, November 19, 2017

Hey there and good morning! I'm up on the Paper Issues blog today with another edition of Scraplift Sunday! Guess who we re lifting today? ME! with this layout I created for The first November Free File Friday. I like the design of this page. It's not fancy or super unique, but it has lots of room for interpretation an reinvention.

So reinvent I did. I changed up the background, being inspired by the card sketch I saw on the PebblesInc blog. I also changed the size of my photos to 3x4. The among design didn't leave room for embellishing above the photos, so I over embellished the bottom of the page, including moving the title there. I don't get to do much with Halloween collections anymore, m so it was fun to be able to play with Pebbles Halloween Haunting.

Not only do I not et to play with Halloween anymore, this is the last time he will carve a pumpkin at home! So yes, many photos were taken and he even named it this year. But only because I asked if he had a name. Oh well.

Need more inspiration? Check out the Paper Issues store for new releases including Simple Stories complete with new FREE cut files. Use DEVRA at checkout to receive 20% off your purchase. Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. Come back again soon to see what's next!

AquaSquad

Sunday, October 1, 2017

Hello hello! It's October! Holy moly that happened fast! Well, that means there's a whole new month of challenges at Paper Issues beginning today! Let's start with Scraplift Sunday shall we? Today's lift is provided by Damaris. How fun is all that embellishment goodness cascading down the page!

You might have guessed that I was drawn to the cascading layers of embellishments. Forget the color story int he original. That didn't matter to me. I grabbed Pebbles Girl Squad and went to town. I can honestly say, this is the first time Ive ever finished a whole package of die cuts! Along with them, are stickers, and puffy stickers. This was so easy and quick!

These are the friends I roomed with on our annual weekend getaway. We all came downstairs dressed in the same color. We giggled a little. It was totally unplanned, but a perfect photo opportunity.

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view this fine October morning. Stay tuned. This is going to be one wild and crazy month!

Girl Friends

Sunday, September 10, 2017

Hey Hey! It's Scraplift Sunday at Paper Issues! Yep again. Funny how this happens every week! I love it though. Sometimes I feel like playing with paper but dont know were to start. Boom! The idea is handed to me!

Today we are lifting Rachel's LO that she created for Take 5 Tuesday.

I liked the angles in the original. I brought them in to the center of the page for my LO. That gave me a chance to use more of the delightful Pebbles Girl Squad papers.  I wanted to move the embellishments around, which I was able to do. I do much better with clusters than scattered embellishments. I did stitch on my page, but chose to use my Stitch Happy machine to stitch around the page. I love that thing!

I have a group of crafty friends that I get together with once a year for an always epic weekend. This year was no exception. We started the weekend off right with margaritas at lunch. That is not something I ordinarily do, but what happens at Camp, stays at Camp. Well, not anymore I guess! Oops!

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. Ive got big plans this week so come back soon!  Don't forget! You can go shopping at Paper Issues any time and use my code DEVRA at checkout to receive 20% off your purchase.

Judges Say...

Thursday, August 10, 2017

Yes! Im back again with another Paper Issues challenge, Pawsitively Pets. This month is all about our pets' adventures. Vacations, trips to the park, visits to the vet, just about anything.

The only way to do this page was with bright summer colors. Lucky for me, I have some! Pebbles Sunshiny Days and Echo Park Summer Dreams look great together. I mixed the big and small prints pretty randomly. Since the colors are so bold, I limited the embellishments. I played around with the title, using the WRMK Thickers alignment guide to curve it.

I love my dog. He loves the water. Only we didn't know it until our first visit to my Dad's house. There was no coaxing him into the water. He got right in. All it took was throwing a ball and he was jumping halfway across the pool. Over and over he jumped in.

Thanks so much for being here again at my creative view. It's a busy month around here so come back again soon! Theres new stuff in the shop this week. Get some for 20% off using DEVRA at checkout.

Dance to the Music

Sunday, August 6, 2017

Hello Hello! Happy Sunday. Make that a happy Scraplift Sunday at Paper Issues! I'm on the blog today sharing my take on this page created by Cat.

Oh, this page spoke to me. I even saved Pebbles Girl Squad specifically for this layout. I found it quite liberating to just add layer upon layer of paper, die cuts and stickers. I usually hoard them! So many that I may not have featured were perfect to add here! This page was an absolute blast to put together!

I might add that these photos made this layout all that more fun to do. As I mentioned, the birthday scrapping has begun. I love music and I love dancing. Most of the time I'm listening to music when Im home working, and when I scrap. But on my birthday, we played a game, and it involved 80's music, so of course, there was dancing!

As always, thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today.  Pebbles Girl Squad as well as Halloween and Christmas are in the Paper Issues shop. Get some for 20% off seen you use DEVRA at checkout. See you again soon!

Summer Fun

Sunday, July 9, 2017

Happy Sunday folks! Another round of Sraplift Sunday is up on the opaper Isseus blog. Today we are lifting a delightful page Stacie made.

When I first saw this  Pebbles Sunshiny Days Let's Float paper the only thing I wanted to do was cut it apart! I'm so happy to have had the inspiration to do so! I kinda feel like those photos are floating on paper water! I tucked some of the other papers from this collection behind the photos, added some of the chipboard stickers and a few ephemera pieces from Echo Park Summer dreams and called it done. The bulk of the work was fussy cutting the paper apart. But I love the look and the page!

I'm already missing the days of lazing in my Dad's pool with my guys. They are big now and want to laze by themselves! I guess that means I should take the time to relax my self!

Thanks so much for taking a look at my creative view today. I've got a lot to share this month, so come back again soon!

Velcro or Glue?

Sunday, January 15, 2017

Hey there! Devra here! Anyone out there a fan of puns? I am! Today I have a project featuring the  absolutely punny Pebbles My Funny Valentine collection.

I love hearts. They make me happy. And really, is there a better way to show the love between a boy and his Mama? I think not.  I started with the FREE  Open Hearts Circles cut file. I filled in the hearts with both sides of the XOXO,  and Heart Fest  papers. I used the Scattered Hearts  paper under my photo.

See that piece of ephemera there in the title? That is the whole reason I bought the ephemera pack and these papers. Yep. That's right. My kiddo is the complete definition of a Mama's boy. I say he's attached to me with velcro almost daily. But holy cow. When I saw the 'I love you' and 'I love you more' I was giddy.

What's a page about love with out sparkly, shiny, glittery, hearts? I tell you these glitter hearts finished off the page nicely for me. Truly, one can never have to many glitter hearts.

Now that I've spilled my heart out (get it), go get some of this Pebbles My Funny Valentine collection using the code DEVRA fro save 20% on your order. Then join our Product Spotlight challenge in the Paper Issues Friends and Fans Facebook group. We love to see what you create!

As always, thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. Im so happy to be creating and sharing consistently. Come back again soon.

Hello Spring

Wednesday, March 2, 2016

Hello there! I am excited to share my first page as Guest Designer for The ScrapRoom this month! The ScrapRoom offers kits and add ons, plus coffee if you want.

I was given the Flavor of the Month Kit, plus a Patterned Paper Kit and Embellishment Kit to work with this month. I have to say, what a nice selection! I really like how the kit was broken down into individual page kits. It doesn't get much easier than that to put pages together.

So speaking of pages, the first page I have to share today is using this month's sketch:

I used the Pebbles papers and embellishments from the Flavor of the Month Kit.  I love printed kraft paper. And the butterflies and bees! I found them a great match for these photos. I used the sketch as it was designed, but I did make a few adjustments. First, I used a 4x6 photo accompanied by the 2 smaller ones. Second, I used the barcode strips to create 2 extra horizontal strips across the center of the page. Lastly, I moved the title up a little so I could add some journaling.   As far as embellishing, I fussy cut some hexagons add some color. The title uses one of the words from the Sticker sheet in the Embellishment Kit. From my stash I added the alphas for the title and some mist sprinkled over the page.

We are so fortunate to live close to the daffodil and tulip fields. We were on a family outing one Saturday last spring. On our way home, we found ourselves driving right through the daffodil fields. Of course we had to stop! It was cloudy, but the colors were so bright. I still can't help but think of the Poppy Fields in The Wizard of Oz though every time we visit.

Thank you so much for stopping by my creative view today. I'm going to be very busy this month, so come back often to see what's going on.
