Hey there I'm on the  Paper Issues Blog today with a project for the That's Was Random Challenge!  This, is a challenge I can get behind! I love throwing random bits of stuff onto my pages!

I started with the new PinkFresh Super Cool collection. I started with the Fun Times Paper as the foundation foe the whole page. Those tags down the side make this super cool and super easy! From there I grabbed all of my PinkFresh. Yes, all of it! I rifled through all the paper scraps, stickers, acetate, chipboard and ephemera and just started adding bits here and there onto the page.  It worked!

This was so fun! Now you should try this too! Find this and all of our challenges in the March Challenges album in our Facebook group!  Shop the store for all of your paper crafting needs including new PinkFresh, Shimelle and Amy Tangerine now! Use DEVRA at checkout for 20 % off your purchase. See you next time!

Yeti for Snow

Tuesday, January 7, 2020

Hey there! I'm sharing my first post of the year on the Paper Issues blog today. The Snow White challenge is one of the many all new challenges this we have this year.

Want to know what my first thought was when I saw this challenge? Disney's Snow White. That meant a Disney page. Well, I did go to Disneyland over the summer. Nah, not feeling it. What's next. Snow? We haven't had any this winter. Crud. I probably just jinxed myself. Oh well.

Hmmm, I do have Doodlebug Winter Wonderland I could play with, and I do live with a child who thinks he's part Yeti so why not?

Alrighty. I started with one of our awesome free cut files,  Drop Down Stitching Snowflakes. After I stitched them, I embellished them with patterned papers and the glittery stickers. Ok great. That part was done. Now what do I do? Well, I kept it pretty simple. I used the Snowflowers paper as a matte for the photos. I need to have a place to put the Yeti sticker!

Well, there you have it. My first blog post in the books. I appreciate you stopping by to see my creative view. When I'm not here, you can always find more of me on Instagram @thebeachygal. Head over to our Facebook group to see this and all of our  January Challenges. Remember to use DEVRA at checkout when you shop the Paper Issues store to receive 20% off your purchase.

So Flowerful

Tuesday, June 12, 2018

Hello there! Check me out! I'm cranking out the Paper Issues June challenges. Today I have a layout for the Striped Sensation challenge.

You may call this cheating. A striped paper? No big deal. Well, in a way, you may be correct. But I have a story. This paper? It's from the new Doodlebug Design Hello collection.  This royal blue? It's fresh. It's bold. It's new. I love it so much I dreamed about it. Really. I did. I just needed to find a way to use it. I had some ideas but I wasn't wowed by them. Until my son took this photo of me last week.

Yippee! Flowers! Then the ideas fell into place. Flowers. All the flowers. As many as I could get onto the page in an orderly way. Stickers? check. Die cuts? check. Enamel shapes check. They are layered, clustered and vibrant, but not overwhelming. I'm so happy that this came out really close to how I saw it in my head.

My son and I hit the farmers market for the first time this season. I wanted flowers. I picked the brightest bouquet, and even grabbed a few 'Horton Hears a Who' flowers as well. It was a lovely morning.

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. Come back again soon, I have more ti share over the next week. Head over the the Paper Issues shop to pick up some Doodlebug Design Hello for yourself or any of the other new products. It's always 20% off when you use DEVRA at checkout.

Happy Birthday to Me

Saturday, July 1, 2017

Good morning and happy July! I'm kicking off the new month right with a page I made for the new Sketchy Saturday at Paper Issues. First let me show you the sketch.

Amy sure has a way with these sketches. It has such a festive feel to me so I created a very festive page. It's bright, colorful and silly, exactly like the photo I chose to use. Doodlebug Fairy Tales mixed with some Lawn Fawn had the right whimsy I was looking for.  I layered up several papers, and created a giant embellishment cluster. It didn't feel finished. I remembered I had some gold floss so I stitched some swirls, added some twine, then called it a day! Yay! It's such a happy page!

So yep, It was my birthday. I decided to ignore it by making fun of myself all day. I love my Letterboard and have had such fun playing with it. It was for sure the reason I even too this photo!

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today.  It's just the beginning of the month so come back again soon. Head over to the shop and get some new things to play with. It's always 20% off when you use DEVRA at checkout!

Rainbows and Unicorns

Tuesday, May 23, 2017

Good morning! There are many ways to create eye catching titles. Creating tension with type is what we are talking about at Get It Scrapped today.

The title of my page, 'life isn't always rainbows and unicorns' is my way of mixing real life with a little bit of trendy humor.  The lowercase, white letters are eye-catching,  and draw the viewer in when set against the black paper. They appear to have a serious feel.  Using the colorful letters over the trendy motifs is equally as impactful, but in a less serious way. I chose a black background for two reasons. First, the colors really popped against it. Second, It's a nod to the story of the page.

There was a day last summer when everything went wrong. Instead of the fun, outdoor day I had planned, one thing happened after another, and the day spiraled out of control.

Hats On to You

Monday, May 8, 2017

Well hello and good Monday to you! This is week 2 of May challenge reveals at Paper Issues. Today we have the new Pinspire Me mood board. I think it's spectacular.

I was clearly inspired by the blues. How could I not be with the Doodlebug Dragon Tails sitting in front of me! I love the playfulness of this collection. The fact that it's birthday themed made it perfect for these silly birthday photos. And dont go thinking its just for little kids. Nuh uh.

I started with the idea of the hats and remembered there's a free Birthday cut file in the shop too! To keep things simple after that, I cut and layered 4 papers and photos. The dragons in the die cuts and sticker sheet are really the best. I had to use them! A few little icons from the 12x12 sticker sheet and I was about done. I dont always use the cut apart sheets, but I really liked the way the multi patterns look under the white.

No matter how old he gets, he lets loose a little on his birthday. It probably helps that his grandparents are a great example of "never act your age". I love them for that. It probably also helps there's a ready made theme when your birthday is Cinco de Mayo,  So, another birthday in the books. This was number 15.

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today, It's going to be another busy week so stop back in again soon. Before you do, chock out the new Doodlebug or some of the other new collections. Use my code DEVRA at checkout for 20% off your purchase!

So Very Diploma-Tic

Wednesday, April 26, 2017

Well good morning! Yes, you can call me a slacker! It's been more than a week since my last post. Well, I'm here, and I have a new layout! Paper Issues is putting the spotlight on the new Doodlebug Designs Fairy Tales and Dragon Tails collections.

My favorite thing about Doodlebug is all the bright colors. Also, that they use the colors are consistent in every collection. So no surprise, but I bought Dragon Tails. Yes. It's  birthday themed, but you had me at blue, green and turquoise!  And dragons! They can be used anywhere.

So, I used the B side of Friendly Fleet paper and the Starring You free cut file for the circle. I wanted to focus on my son. Tucking the photo into the circle helped do that. Then I took the Dragon Dots cut apart strips to create the borders around the page. Mostly because I love the colors! I used a mixture of the Odds & Ends Die Cuts, Dragon Babies Doodlepops, and This & That Cardstock stickers. A few sprinkles and flair and done!  These colors are amazing and look! Its not a birthday page!

Nope, Its a graduation page! 5th grade graduation that is! What an afternoon! It was a disaster for my son. It started late. The ceremony was so, so, long. No body was helping to distract or calm him. I sat on the floor with him, trying to do all that. Finally it was his turn to walk across the stage. Stairs meant no walker, so I helped him walk across the stage.  He smiled and got a huge round of applause so I guess it was worth it. We left immediately afterwards, He was DONE!

Thank you so much for stopping by my creative view today! Ive got more things up my sleeve, so come back again soon.

You know you should go right now and buy yourself some of this Doodlebug Dragon Tails. I just showed you it doesn't have to be a birthday page. Use my code DEVRA at checkout for 20% off your purchase!

Do You VooDoo?

Saturday, March 4, 2017

Good morning! Whoa! It's March already! Well, that just means a whole new round of challenges at Paper Issues. Let's get things started with this month's Sketchy Saturday challenge.

Look! its a multi photo sketch! And what a beauty it is!

Oh, I went over the top with this one! I have so many donut photos! And This Doodlebug Cream & Sugar collection is so perfect for them! Oh, the plaid Sugar Doodles paper and hooray for Donut paper! Like I said, over the top. Donuts are everywhere. Stickers, Die cuts, and flair! I used so many strong patterns with bright colors. that I decided to leave the top and bottom of the page open. It would have been just one thing to many to add more to it.

We were told oh, you have to try VooDoo donuts if you ever go to Portland. Well, we went to Portland, and found VooDoo donuts. Now it's become a tradition for us to get a few, ok, a dozen, every time we road trip there.

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. Get ready. It's going to be crazy around here this month.   I highly recommend you get some of this Doodlebug. Not your cup of tea? We have many new lines in the store from My Minds Eye, Cocoa Vanilla Studio and more. Use my code DEVRA for 20% off your purchase

Caution! Joshua Was Here!

Tuesday, February 7, 2017

Good morning! It's a double post day for me so thanks for being here again! It's time for another Take 5 Tuesday at Paper Issues. Here are this month's ideas:

From the list, I used: red, white, yellow, cardstock and arrows. So, I got this caution washi tape last fall. I also saw the August Graphic Stripes Free cut file. I thought, hmmm, how can I make this work together? Well, it was easy. First I cut the file, them I covered it with the tape! th rest was super easy after that! I cant seen to get enough Crate Paper Cool Kid. I really am going to be terribly sad when I use it all up. Anyway, a couple of staggered paper under the photo, several die cuts, stickers and chipboard and I was done!

Yes. This is my son and 'his' playroom. When he gets out his toys, he dumps them out, then throws them around while he's looking for the one or two items he's looking for.  Every. Single. Time. It's one of his quirks, but he seems to know what it is he wants. Cant fault him for that. Needless to say, there is always cleaning up to do.

Thanks again for being here, and following my creative view. It's been great to be so creatively busy again. You can get some Cool Kid of your own or many of the other new collections in the Paper Issues shop. Use my code DEVRA for 20 off your purchase.

Monday, August 15, 2016

Hey there and good morning! I get to share with you my second challenge reveal as the August guest designer for Scrap Our Stash . Today we have the sketch +3 challenge.

Here is how I used the sketch with stuff from my ever growing stash. This is a really fun sketch and something so different! When I saw the top of the sketch I immediately thought of banners. That led me to photos from my son's birthday last month. I found the cutest  A Banner Day cut file in The Cut Shoppe.  The angles in the sketch combined with my papers made for a bright whimsical page. I used Vellum layered under the banner as well as Various manufacturers, Doodlebug (paper and vellum) My Minds Eye and Freckled Fawn (enamel dots) Fancy Pants and A Flair for Buttons (Flair). Pieces of Washi Tape are at the top of the page and lastly I ran the Velum piece through my Xyron.

We never know how he is going to respond to his birthday. Some years it's the balloons, others the singing. Not this year. This year was all about the presents, or one in particular that he recognized by shape, and trying to touch the candles on the cake. Mind you, he didn't want to actually eat any cake. Oh, and the balloons? It's a good thing I always get the long lasting helium because that's all he wanted the next day.

Thanks for stopping by my creative view today and sticking with me through the slow months. Summer is almost over, so I'll be getting back to posting regularly.

High in the Sky

Saturday, March 19, 2016

Ha! 5 days, 5 posts! I said I'd be busy around here and I meant it! Next up is this little number I created using inspiration from a Paper Issues Spring Crop Challenge combined with the newest ScrapMuch? sketch

Yep. Flipped it again. It would have worked the other way too, but I figured because the topic was about being high up, the photos should be too. So because of that, I also moved the title and enhanced the edge strip to be a larger focus.

While visiting family last summer, we decided to check out the OC Fair. Not only did we choose a scorcher of a day, we went during the hottest part of the day. We walked around, ate a lot, played some games, and tested a few rides. The kid was way more brave than we were, but I think we all agreed, there is nothing like a ferris wheel on a clear day.

Thanks for stopping by my creative view today. I've still got more up my sleeve, so come back again soon.

Always Aunt Helen

Tuesday, March 15, 2016

Hey there and good morning! We made it past PI day to the middle of the month. That means it's time for a new sketch challenge at Stuck?! Sketches.

Here is the new sketch

You have to know me well enough to know that, a) I use a lot of 4x6 photos, so b) I flip and adjust sketches to work of the photos I have. That is the beauty of Laura's sketches. They are so easily adaptable. They work for any style page with any size photos.  So yes, I flipped it on it's side once clockwise, but left the design alone.

Just to show you how versatile this sketch is, I also stretched it out into a 2 page layout. I did the dame thing by flipping it on it's side, then connected the two sides by using the same paper in the middle. I still used only 3 embellishment areas.  This sketch could also easily become a 2 page layout just by duplicating it as it is.

I know I promised no more baseball pages from this album, but I lied. However, these are the last two pages. That I can promise you.

Thanks for stopping by my creative view today. I've got lots going on this week, so come back again soon.

Play Ball

Tuesday, March 1, 2016

Good morning! New month, new sketch challenge reveal over at Stuck?! Sketches today! Take a look at this sketch that is full of possibilities.

Yes, I made another baseball page. What can I say, I really wanted to finish this album! And, yes, I took liberties with this sketch as well. But that's the beauty of a sketch. You can make them work for you is you are feeling creative, or use them as is. I kept the design the same, but used one larger  photo. In place of the 2 smaller ones, I created larger embellishment clusters, both with squares in them.

I'm pretty sure this is the last page of the album. I'm finished. It's one of my favorite photos of the night. It;s proof we were there, that the party existed, that Momo was the guest of Honor.

Thanks for stopping by amy creative view today. It's going to be a crazy month around here so come back often.

Momo and Me

Monday, February 15, 2016

Hey there and good morning to you! The first half of the month has flown by. But that's ok, That means it's time to reveal the newest sketch challenge at Stuck?! Sketches

This type of sketch speaks to me. I love the layers, the lines mixed with curves. I can use it as it extended to the edges of the page, or re-size it for a smaller photos and a portion of the page. It's so versatile. Today I used it as it was designed, but I flipped the direction to match the way we are looking in the photo. Those circular embellishment options screamed to be baseball oriented ;-).

This is a personal favorite photo from Momo's party. Everyone wanted time with him and he made time for everyone. It is because of Momo that we are a baseball family. It is from him that I learned my love of the game.

Thanks for stopping by my creative view today. I'm gearing up for some big challenges in March. Stick around. If I'm not sharing much this month, I certainly will be soon!

Remember, if you play along with the Stuck?! Sketches challenges this month, you have an opportunity to win some prizes from our generous sponsors. Check out the rules on the blog.

More from Momo's Birthday

Tuesday, January 26, 2016

Hey there! I got to play! Well, actually, I have to thank Get It Scrapped for giving me a push to start working on the project that I'd set aside for several years. Combine that with a few challenges and I'm finding myself almost finished! Here are two more completed pages using sketches and challenges from Scrap Our Stash and ScrapMuch?

Fort up is the Sketch + 3 from Scrap Our Stash .

I knew I could use the sketch in my album. I used 2 larger photos, instead of the smaller ones and moved some embellishments around. Not every page in the album has a title, such as this one. I used American Crafts-White Cardstock, Blue, and Red. Considering I'm using the same product throughout the album, this was pretty easy to do ;-).

Next is the sketch from ScrapMuch?  One look and I knew it would also work in the album.

I did two things right away; flip it on its side and use larger photos. I printed all the photos for this book in 4x6 and I was not re-printing any of them!  This sketch adjustment worked great for me. I kept it simple and it came together quickly.

Thanks for stopping by my creative view today. I'm almost done sharing baseball photos. Well, maybe...Come back again soon. I've been busy and have much to share.

Love, Love, Love

Tuesday, December 1, 2015

Good morning. Poof! It's December! Wow! Where did the year go? No, I'm not going to get reflective right now. I'm here to share today's reveal at Stuck?! Sketches. Here is the first sketch of the month.

Here is what I did with it. I stayed pretty true to the sketch this time. I like the clean lines, and this design worked well with the photos and papers I chose. I  did use larger photos, so I adjusted the paper sizes a little to fit them better.

My son is so funny. Whenever we go visit family he always chooses someone randomly who becomes his "person of choice" for the day. He gets as close to them as he can, and yes that can include sitting on laps. Well, one day it was his Aunt, another day his Grammy. He certainly knows how to get attention!

I hope to see you playing along with us this month at Stuck?! Sketches. We have some wonderful sponsors offering great prizes.

November CREATE Magazine

Tuesday, November 17, 2015

Hey Hey! It's release day for the new Scrapbook Generation CREATE eMag! I'm pleased to share the two, yes TWO layouts that are in the Reader Gallery.

This first one is a two page layout of my husband and I at a Cubs game in 2005. This was not just any Cubs game, it was Ryne Sandberg's jersey retirement game. He is my favorite Cubs player. One of my children's middle name is Ryne.  Really.

I adjusted the sketch to suit my photos, but the original design is there. I used a combination of a Doodlebug 4th of July and a baseball product collection.

Now for the single page layout. Every year that I have created a Halloween page,  I have always titled the page "X meets Y". I don't know why, it just seems to work for me. Maybe it's because the characters they were dressed as were so out of context form one another. Anyway, Buzz and Harry got together this year and allowed me to create this bright and colorful traditional Halloween page. Again, I stuck to the original design of the page, but added a few extra layers of paper as well as the web behind the photos.

Thanks for stopping by my creative view today. It's going to be a busy week around here. I'm very happy to day that. It's been a while. Come back and check out what's new.

We Love the Cubs

Eeeek! I finally can share this page!!!  I have had so much fun crating the last few weeks. Some for myself, some for gifts, and some for assignments. This one falls under assignments for Get It Scrapped. Today's blog article is discussing what you do when you have no mojo

This topic came at a great time for me. I had not had consistent time to craft and felt like my mojo was out of sync.  When this happens, I turn to sketches. Page design has always been a stumbling block for me. Using a sketch gives me a starting point. I find my sketches from several challenge blogs I follow, then Pin them to my Pinterest boards. My boards are set up by number of photos on the sketch, so it is easy for me to find a sketch that inspires me, as well as it being appropriate to the photos I have ready. The other thing that helps wit mojo, is inspiring product. I was giddy over this Doodlebug Design baseball collection and used it on several projects last month.

The sketch I used for this page is from Sketch Savvy.  I flipped it on it's side, and reversed it in order for it to work with my photo. I liked the design in combination with the photo and the product I chose. The papers are boldly colored and printed. The blocked design enabled me to used several prints without overwhelming the photo, and the page as a whole.

The Cubs were in the playoffs this year. We found a Cubs family photo from the last time they were in the playoffs in 2007, and decided it was time for a new one.  If you know me, you know I love baseball. I live for baseball season. I also love the Chicago Cubs, and have since I was 16 years old. It is a BIG DEAL when  they are in the playoffs. So we have to make the most of every game.

Thanks for taking a look at my creative view today. Come back again soon, I have lots to share.

#Fly The W

Wednesday, October 21, 2015

So if you know me, you know how much I love baseball. I wholeheartedly believe that life begins on opening day. Well, it's October now, which means we are in the midst of the playoffs. Being a Cubs fan, that usually means nothing. But this year, they are IN! Thanks to social media, there are some great hostages surrounding the team. #FlyTheW seems to have caught on the most. Yes, I own a W flag and display it proudly after they win (when I remember). We took this photo last week after the Cubs downed the Cardinals to make it to the NLCS. I created the page right away, but due to cloudy weather, wasn't able to photo is until yesterday.

I knew Doodlebug had new sports lines coming out, but was told they weren't arriving in stores until November. I was thrilled when I walked into my LSS to find a huge display! I bought all of the baseball, 3 times over, and used it all up!

I'm taking advantage and playing along with Paper Issues Fan-Atic Issue as well as Scraplift Sunday.

Thanks for taking a look at my creative view today. Come back again soon, I always have something to share.

July CREATE Magazine

Thursday, July 16, 2015

Good morning. This week the new issue of CREATE magazine published by Scrapbook Generation was released.

I have 2 layouts published in this issue both based on the sketches provided. A single page and a 2 page layout.

The basis of the sketch were the circles. I used then as the foundation for my photos instead of a design element.  I love the modern vintage look of the Crate Paper Poolside collection to complement the photos of me as a child.

For this one, I used a single color matte across the 2 pages. I die cut the panels and used them as overlays. I used some of the negative cut pieces to create the sun. The Doodlebug Sunkissed collection caught my eye for these bright summer pool photos of my family. I love the fun and whimsy in this line.

Thanks for stopping by my creative view today. Come back again tomorrow. I've got more to share
