We Mermaid for Each Other

Wednesday, March 29, 2017

Hey there paper people! It's Wednesday and that means a new Product Spotlight at Paper Issues! Today's highlight is all the new Bella Blvd. There are several new collections available in the shop. There's really something for everyone this spring.

I used a combination of Make Your Mark and Secrets of the Sea. My inspiration for this page actually started with an old photo and the FREE Mermaid cut file. The two really screamed to jibe used together. I'm a sucker for turquoise, green and blues, yes the Boy color Secrets of the Sea is what caught my attention. I had the Make Your Mark  on my table for another project when the Believe watercolor paper caught my eye. The colors are the same, so I backed only the word Mermaid with it, then used the rest of it to matte the page. Speaking of the Mermaid, I'm on a bit of a stitching binge lately. I wanted that word to stand out so it worked!

This is us on our honeymoon. It's one of my favorite photos of us taken that week. We said to a waterfall, then climbed it and jumped in! It was a great day and so much fun!

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. I love these new Bella Blvd collections. One of my favorite thing about Bella is the bright clear colors. That is right up my alley. So if you like bright colors too, I suggest you head over to the Paper Issues shop and get some for yourself!  Use my code DEVRA at checkout for 20% off your order!

He Knows

Wednesday, March 22, 2017

Good morning! There's a new Product Spotlight on the Paper Issues blog! Today we are highlighting the new collections by My Minds Eye: Hey Mister, Palm Beach, In Bloom and Meow.

Im using the Hey Mister collection. It's definitely a masculine line, and it has a bit of everything. Dogs, Dads, and umm...astronomy! I began with the Hey There paper. I cut it apart, then layered it over card stock. I got the idea for the title while I was moving the photo around. I covered up the 'Y' and was left with the HE. I went through all the stickers, die cuts and chipboard to find the right embellishments for the page. I have to say the little puffy stickers are my favorite!

I want to know how dogs know what we feel. This is my dog with my son, moments after I told him my Grandmother, his Great Grandmother had passed away. Our dog climbed over to him, put his head on his lap, and stayed there. He just knew something was wrong.

Thanks so much for being here with me and my creative view today.   Im having so much fun with  Hey Mister! I've made 3 pages already! I want to see what you can do with these new My Minds Eye collections. You can get 20% off your purchase in the Paper Issues shop when you use my ode DEVRA at checkout

So Very Lucky

Monday, March 20, 2017

Good morning! Today at Paper Issues we are revealing the second half of our Anything goes Issue. So the funny thing is, it took me forever to decide what to do!

Then one by one, things happened, ideas formed, and this page came together. First was the March free cut file. I honed in on the word lucky. Then came the photo and the Instagram post that went with it. Lastly, I'm obsessed with the Hazelwood collection. I cant get enough of it.

I cut and stitched the cut file. I have just about scraps left of the Hazelwood papers. I used them to back the photo. The washi tape in this collection has been one of my favorite items to use. The strips add just the right touch to the page. Really, after I finished stitching, I added some ephemera pieces, stickers and cork pieces, finishing the page other quickly.

I took the journaling straight from my Instagram post. Every moment has two directions. I chose to take this as a grateful moment. There are many struggles in having a child with special needs, snuggles and smiles are not one of them

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. I cant say enough about this Hazelwood collection. You can get some and so much more in the Paper Issues shop for 20% off when you use my code DEVRA.

Better W/Bagels

Tuesday, March 14, 2017

Good morning! A new Roll the Dice challenge is up at Paper Issues! Today the dice landed on 2 photos and 3 strips of washi tape. I can do that no problem!

I got my hands on the newest Amy Tangerine collection, On a Whim. The colors are so up my alley. I love bright, vibrant colors! The Fine Apple striped background was a happy accident. I wasn't planning on using it, but the more papers I laid on top, the more I liked it! Some of the sayings on the In Good Company cut apart page were really just spot on, so I chose a grid design as a good way to feature them. I embellished the two squares of patterns paper with die cuts, stickers, chipboard and flair. The 3 strips of washi are under the title and that's that. Sometimes simple is the best way to go, especially with bold patterns and colors.

I'm at he table eating with my son, when he stands up, grabs a bagel and hands it to me. He wants to eat it. Why is this remarkable? The boy does not eat bagels. Ever. He does not ask to try new foods. Ever. He hands food back to us when we ask him too try new things. Anyway, he proceeds to eat half a bagel with cream cheese. And he seemed to really enjoy it. Why? Who knows. I still wonder if he thought it was something else...like a donut. Now to see if he'll do it again!

Thank you so much for hanging out at with my creative view. If I were you, I'd treat yourself to some of this awesome On a Whim collection in the shop. While you are there, you can also pick up new Simple Stories and PinkFresh. Better yet, use my code DEVRA for 20% off your purchase.

Hey there! I'm happy to be a part of the newer article on the Get It Scrapped blog. Once again, Debbie has taken us to new places for inspiration. Today, our pages and stories have not only been inspired by, but influenced by Humans of New York.

Our assignment, was to journal in the style of HONY, from the subjects's perspective. This is not my story to tell, it's his.

It seems, music plays a part in every generation. I am watching now as it has grabbed my teenage son's attention. He is always listening to music. He uses it to tune out noise, to calm him and to energize him. It has connected him to friends, both real and virtual.  He spends time seeking out new music, listening to many genres.

Music has always played a part in our family, making this a subject in which we could have a lively discussion. I learned he hasn't fully grasped what music means to him yet. I also learned that in a literal sense, the difference between how his generation and mine source, listen and purchase music is digital and analogue. I enjoyed writing a story from someone else's point of view, but I scrapbook so my 'readers' understand the stories, feelings and memories from my perspective.

I loved having a paper collection with a theme that coincided with my photo and story. The music motif within the collection are current and relevant, therefore very fitting for my page.

As always, thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. Im gearing up for crafty weekend, so come back later this week for more!

Good morning! Devra here today. I love this time of year when all the new collections are available.  There's so much to choose from! I get so many ideas that sometimes I get overwhelmed and just don't know where to begin! That's when I look for a challenge to get me started in the right direction. Fortunately, there are many challenges to participate in every month in our Paper Issues {Friends & Fans} Facebook group.

For today's project, I decided to join today's Scraplift Sunday challenge, lifting an amazing LO by Cat Martin featured in our February Notable Quotable post. The layout is vibrant and full of energy,t making me think of this silly photo. Hmm, which collection will work best? I landed on the new Dear Lizzy Lovely Day collection, moistly because of the Lovely Phrase Thickers! I mean Choose Crazy! Yes!

I used both sides of the Oh Hello floral/polka dot paper with the More Friday paper sandwiched in the middle.

I layered and clusters several die cuts and stickers, accenting them with enamel dots, flair and more chipboard pieces.

I am having way to much fun with this collection and cant wait to create more with it. Go get some of this delightfully fun Dear Lizzy Lovely Day, as well as many more new collections in the shop and use my code DEVRA when you check out for 20% off your purchase! Saturday, March 11, 2017

Well good morning to you! For sure March has arrived like a lion. I feel like I'm going non stop! Anyway, I did stop long enough to use the new FREE cut file for Cut It Up Saturday. It's available in the Paper Issues shop today.

This is a 2 part file. I used the star backgound for this layout. I began by spraying bronze, gold and silver mist on card stock before I cut it out. I do recommend letting the paper dry completely before cutting. I learned the hard way, I was a bit too anxious to put my page together. Anyway, after cutting, I grabbed the new My Minds Eye Hey Mister. This line is an interesting mixture of motif. Space, male and dogs. Ok. I used some of the space motif. The page is backed by the Galaxy Guy paper. i also used both sides of the Geo Gee paper under my photo. I love the chipboard and stickers in this collection. Oddly they seem to be pretty versatile. I needed to add a little contrast,  so I added some colored stars from my stash.

The super moon. At the last minute, my son decided he wanted to go see it. Well, the place to go is the high school parking lot. It's at the top of a hill. I swear the moon was so close we could touch it. Well, that's what my camera made me feel like anyway. It took several tries, but iFinally got my camera on the right setting, Of the hundreds of photos I snapped, this is the best one.

Thanks so much for being here with me and my creative view. There are a bunch of new collections in the Paper Issues shop. Treat yourself  to some of this My Minds Eye Hey Mister. or anything else that strikes your fancy. Please use my code Devra for 20% off your order!

Don't Grow Up

Sunday, March 5, 2017

Hello there! Its time for the new Notable Quotable challenge at Paper Issues! Let me tell about this. We give you a quote, and you create a project inspired by it. It's that easy.

So this month is a quote from Peter Pan about growing up. Yep. It was that easy. The Dear Lizzy Lovely Day Chipboard Phrase Thickers  include a sentiment that couldn't be more suited for this quote.  If yo know me, you Dear Lizzy isn't really my thing. But I have to say, these papers are working for me right now. I started with the phrase. I found a photo of my son that I could use to expand on that sentiment. From there I grabbed the Circle collage FREE cut file, thinking i could use it to frame the photo. And that it did. I love the B sides of Beep Beep, Dreamer, and Oh Hello . The and used them to back the file. The consistency of color of the watercolor prints, are so pretty and really are just the right shades for the photo.

Time seems to be moving too quickly right now and I just want it to stand still, for all of us. For just a little while longer. He's at the point where he's trying to live his life and think about the future. I just want to let him be  kid for a little bit longer.

Thanks as always for stopping by my creative view today. There is so much going on this month, I'll hope you'll come back often. More new collections have arrived in the Paper Issues shop including Bella Blvd, Illustrated Faith and Pink Paislee Sweet Freedom. Remember, you can use my code DEVRA for 20% off your purchase!

Do You VooDoo?

Saturday, March 4, 2017

Good morning! Whoa! It's March already! Well, that just means a whole new round of challenges at Paper Issues. Let's get things started with this month's Sketchy Saturday challenge.

Look! its a multi photo sketch! And what a beauty it is!

Oh, I went over the top with this one! I have so many donut photos! And This Doodlebug Cream & Sugar collection is so perfect for them! Oh, the plaid Sugar Doodles paper and hooray for Donut paper! Like I said, over the top. Donuts are everywhere. Stickers, Die cuts, and flair! I used so many strong patterns with bright colors. that I decided to leave the top and bottom of the page open. It would have been just one thing to many to add more to it.

We were told oh, you have to try VooDoo donuts if you ever go to Portland. Well, we went to Portland, and found VooDoo donuts. Now it's become a tradition for us to get a few, ok, a dozen, every time we road trip there.

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. Get ready. It's going to be crazy around here this month.   I highly recommend you get some of this Doodlebug. Not your cup of tea?
