Feel the Love

Thursday, February 1, 2018

Hey there! Good morning and Happy February. Wow. That happened fast! I'm so happy to be the first to share a project in the new challenge format for on the Paper Issues blog today. What new format you ask? Well, today, we revealed ALL of the February challenges. That gives all you crafty friends the whole month to play along with all of them! Each day here on the blog, we will share a project featuring one of our challenges. Ready?

I have for you, something I made for one of everyone's favorite challenges, Take 5 Tuesday.  Here is the new board:

Let's just start with my items, then how I can tell you how I got to them. It may be more than 5!
1. Red, 2. Patterned Paper 3. Turquoise, 4. Stitching, 5. Heart,  as well as white, polka dots, flair and something shiny.

First I had my photo. Look at my sweet boys! I feel the love! No matter the differences between them, they are still brothers who love each other.

So, I started with the Heart Grid FREE cut file. It said "Stitch me" loud and clear. I pared it down to 8 hearts, enlarging them for my grid. You know what else was yelling at me? Crate Paper Main Squeeze! See where I'm going with this?

All the pretty patterned paper fills up the hearts. What's your favorite? I can't choose! Maybe Smooch? I used both sides of that one, because turquoise and kisses. Maybe it's that Purrrfect multi colored scallop. Clearly I couldn't decide, so I used several.

When it comes to embellishments, I'm not any better at decision making, so I used them all. Yep. Chipboard, which is where the shiny comes from.

The cardstock stickers  are so fun to layer with the puffy stickers and ephemera

I guess you could also say having lots to choose from made this so easy to put together! Thanks for taking a look at my creative view today. I hope I've inspired you to create something new.

Pooch Smooch

Tuesday, November 7, 2017

Good morning! It's Take 5 Tuesday at Paper Issues today. Here is the November board.

I'll start with the items I used. It was more than 5. Yellow, Die Cuts, Stitching, Stripes, Patterned Paper and animal. First I cut the heart, then I stitched around it. The stripes were created with the Pink Paislee Turn the Page washi tape strips The patterned paper sits behind my photo, the animals are the chipboard and stickers butterflies and birds as well as my dog in the photo. See, easy peasy.

Yes, I am one of those dog people. But no, I do not kiss my dog on the mouth. It just looks that way. I also love him with all go my heart.

Oh yes, today is short and sweet. Thanks for stopping by my creative view today. I always appreciate you being here. Come back again later this week as I have more to share.

Remember Family

Tuesday, October 3, 2017

Happy Tuesday folks. The Oct Take 5 Tuesday challenge is on the Paper Issues blog today.  This is such a fun challenge to join. The direction projects can take from this list is limitless.

I saw the blue, white and orange and immediately thought of Elle's Studio.  I love the true primary colors that are consistently available. Especially in Family Fun.  The small basic prints make it easy to mix and match papers within this collection, or add from other collections as I've done here. The script sketchy words and stickers round out the lighthearted feel of the papers. What I eventually wound ups with for my Take 5 are blue, white, polka dots, stickers, enamel dots and journaling.

From one generation to he next, it doesn't matter if you are a Great Uncle or a 5th cousin, family is family. That's how we work. My son and uncle shared a special bond from the very beginning. Whether sitting together enjoying the sun or learning to play poker, the time they spent together was always meaningful. Im so glad they had time together, even if it wasn't enough.

Thanks so much foie being here with me and my creative view. Tune in for more, it's going to be a full week around here.  Family Fun is easy to work with and available now in the Paper Issues shop. Get it and so much more for 20% off when you use DEVRA at checkout.

Problem Solved

Tuesday, July 4, 2017

Hey baby, It's the 4th of July! That's a song you know...Anyway, It's also the first Tuesday of the month which makes it Take 5 Tuesday at Paper Issues.  Here is this months board

For my page, I used 4. Sticker, 6. washi tape, 8. Layers, 10. Patterned Paper and 15. Grid Design.  Using multiple photos made choosing a grid design easy.  I could alternate paper and photos. Carta Bella Toy Box made it that much easier to do this. There are so may great themed and basic patterns in this collection, as well as stickers, chipboard, and enamel shapes. The page came together quickly. It's fun, and easy to see everything on the page.

As my boys are getting older, there are more moments, less action. I have found myself looking through older photos lately.  There are some gems in my library. Like these. This kiddo amazes me every day.  Ive said it before, But I dont know what we would do without gears on a string. And I guess when you need a third hand to keep the string taut, you use your feet. Problem solved indeed.

Thanks so much for spending some of your July 4th with me and my creative view. I'm feeling very inspired by Toy Box and will be using it again. You can get some in the shop for 20% off when you use my code DEVRA at checkout. Be suer and add your projects to the July Challenges album  all month long.

Wrap & Roll

Tuesday, April 4, 2017

Well good morning! Again! Todays is Take 5 Tuesday at Paper Issues. I love this challenge. Picking from a list of things is fun, as well as challenging.

For my page today I used Yellow, Color of your choice (blue) Wood pieces, Patterned Paper and Stars.  I love circles. And I love this Bubble Ring cut file. Oh it so goes with this photo and story. As I was looking through my stash I found Amy Tangerine Better Together. I didnt realize I had so much of it! I went thru the papers, putting together a blue/green color scheme. I threw in a little yellow and pink for contrast and that's it, Cut files make putting together pages so simple!

Going through old photos has been really fun. I found this of my son have some sensory therapy at school. His teacher was always so creative and trying new things with the kids. I laughed when I saw this because I'd forgotten how much he liked to be wrapped and snuggled when he was a baby. i guess some things don't change.

Thanks for being here today! It's going to be a busy week at my creative view, so come back again soon. I may have been digging in my stash, but guess what? You an still get some Better Together as well as new Simple Stories and Elle's Studio in the Paper Issues shop! You can get 20% off your purchase when you use my code DEVRA

Brat Pack -Take 5 Tuesday

Tuesday, January 3, 2017

Hey there! So, one of the things I love most about Paper Issues is there are so many challenges every month. That means I have an opportunity to create often!  Today is Take 5 Tuesday . I love that this is our take on a 'recipe' challenge. Basically, choose at least 5 items on this list to add to your project. It can be card, LO, planner, whatever inspires you. Here is this months list:

For my page I used cardstock, patterned paper, more than 1 photo, black, tags and layers.  I knew these bright papers from the Bella Blvd Alex collection would require a simple white background. I love the black contrasting with the bold papers, especially after I layered them up 😉. This collection also came with tags and die cuts. Score! Even easier to complete the page from the list!

Every year when school starts, I never know if it's going to be a good experience for my son or not. Several years in a row, he had a new teacher and new staff, so we never had a chance to get used to anyone or get into any familiar routine. Finally, in middle school, he was placed with an aide who would work with him daily. He got into a routine, and enjoyed going to school. He liked school so much, that the first day of winter break, he went to closet, got his backpack, and wouldn't let it go. Wherever he went, it went too, even to bed. And so it went...

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. Head over to Paper Issues today to see more Take 5 Tuesday  team projects. If you feel like doing a little shopping, you can get a 20% discount using my code DEVRA when you check out.
