Hey there! I'm still plugging along and here to share our last challenge for May at Paper Issues,  a Product Spotlight on the new Echo Park collections.

Oh, I am so ready for summer.  I am not a cold weather person and it's been a really long winter.  I'm just ready for warm weather.  I want to feel the sun and it's warmth everyday.  Summer Dreams  feels like everything I want from summer! The colors, are awesome and I love the new layered stickers This paper is my favorite in the whole collection. Once again, we have a free cut file that coordinates. I used the sun with some of the cardstock stickers. I layered up a few papers and called it a day. Now I'm really ready for summer!

So if you haven't already, you better get some of this. It's hot. Pun intended. The colors are amazing and its flying out of the shop. Use my code DEVRA at checkout, for 20% off your order

Rainbows and Unicorns

Tuesday, May 23, 2017

Good morning! There are many ways to create eye catching titles. Creating tension with type is what we are talking about at Get It Scrapped today.

The title of my page, 'life isn't always rainbows and unicorns' is my way of mixing real life with a little bit of trendy humor.  The lowercase, white letters are eye-catching,  and draw the viewer in when set against the black paper. They appear to have a serious feel.  Using the colorful letters over the trendy motifs is equally as impactful, but in a less serious way. I chose a black background for two reasons. First, the colors really popped against it. Second, It's a nod to the story of the page.

There was a day last summer when everything went wrong. Instead of the fun, outdoor day I had planned, one thing happened after another, and the day spiraled out of control.

My Mom & Me

Friday, May 19, 2017

Hey there! I'm back today with a layout for the new Free File Friday challenge at Paper Issues.  We are using the new Mom Life cut file. It's so awesome!

I decided to use one of my baby photos of my Mom and I. Pink Paislee Oh My Heart had the right colors and feel for how I wanted this to look.  I put together the 'my mom' by using both the outline and the inner portion of the letters with  I also used the scallop above and below the main band of the page. From there I filled in around the title with embellishment, including the puffy stickers, die cuts  and chipboard pieces. I wanted a light whimsical feel on the page and that it what I got!

I was 3 weeks old in this photo. I should look to see if I have a similar photo of my children about the same age, That would be a nice comparison. Do any of look alike? Do we have the same pose? I might have to do this!

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. I appreciate you being here with me. I also appreciate new goodies. i know you do too. Head over to the Paper Issues shop to get some Oh My Heart or any other new collections that have arrived. Use my code DEVRA at checkout to receive 20% off your purchase.

King of the Lawn

Wednesday, May 17, 2017

Good morning! We changed things up a bit this month with the way we do Product Spotlights at Paper Issues.  Our first Product Spotlight this month focuses on the Great Outdoors. Yes! We want you to use product featuring things you can find outside.  Easy right?

So what did I do? I cheated. Just a little. Well, more like I didn't follow directions very well. My photos are of my husband mowing the lawn, so outsides tuff. My product, not so much. So, here's how I'm made this work. I grabbed Fancy Pants Family & Co because it had that cool Our House paper. Houses are outside right? Then I cut the Here With You paper into grass. Grass is outside too! All those funny sentiments that are in the ephemera die cuts and chip board that I could use also. So see, It's outdoorsy after all!

My husband likes to make a big deal out of mowing the lawn. I like to make fun of him for it. Oh if you could hear him. "I mowed the lawn". Good for you honey!

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. I love playing with this collection an you can play with out too. Get it in the Paper Issues shop now for 20% off when you use my code DEVRA at checkout. Be suer to share what you create with us in our Facebook group.

If the Wine Fits...

Wednesday, May 10, 2017

Hello again!  We have another new challenge for you today at Paper Issues called  Scrap Soup. This is going to be a fun one! We are giving you some 'ingredients' to use for your project. You can add more to it. The rest is up to you! You can find more information on the blog or in our Facebook group.

So I layered the 3 4x6 papers behind my photos, setting them on a 'shelf' made up of the 9" and 11" papers.  There are 4 words in the title, or another way to look at it is, there are words in 4 places on the page. I have my 7 embellishments, more than that actually. See its to so hard!

I used a mix of things on my page, but the papers are all Amy Tangerine On a Whim. I knew This is what I would use for these photos. The colors na patterns are bold bright and wonky, but somehow, they seem to work well together! The background didnt look good plain white. Fortunately, there is this Paradise paper. I love small patterns as backgrounds. I love the silliness of the stickers and die cuts.

Again, thanks for stopping by my creative view today. Head over to the store to get some On a Whim or some other new goodies! Save 20% when you use my code DEVRA at checkout! See you again soon!

Livin' That Mom Life

Tuesday, May 9, 2017

Hello and welcome to one of our new challenges at Paper Issues, Add it Up. The idea behind this is we will select products and techniques, then assign them a point value. Each month, there will be a target number to achieve. You will create a project using the products and techniques, until they add up to that target number. Here, I'll show you this months board:

Here is my layout with a 125 ish point value. So lets see:
Stitching-10
stamping-10 (on the wood veneer)
Patterned paper- 5x4 = 20
cut file-5
journaling-5
photo-5
flair-1
wood veneer-4x3 =12
chipboard-3
tags-3other embellies-brads-2x3=6
stickers-2x9=18
enamel dots-1x11=11

So do you get the idea?!?!? This month has a high point target. Next month may have a lower one. So for today, pile on what you are comfortable with or try something new!

I'm all about sarcasm these days so this Emoji Love by Simple Stories really has my number (see what I did there?) I know there are two camps on the poop emoji, love it or hate it. It is a family inside joke, so I am in the LOVE IT camp. i layered up 3 different papers, using 2 Cool behind the cut file, and OMG as the main background. I cut apart the 3x4 page because, well,  poop emoji ;-). I used all kinds of the embellishments, including brads, stickers, die cuts and chipboard to further enhance the sarcasm. Not sure it was really necessary, but whatever (see I did it again). But seriously, this collection makes me smile, and that's what this hobby is all about right?

Now, don't get me wrong, I love my Mom life. I am privileged to be able to have this life. But the truth is, sometimes I feel like I need a SuperHero cape. Instead, my husband got me this shirt. It says I'm the "poop emoji". Ok, I'll take it. Like I said, inside family joke. But really, somedays I have to just laugh too get through it. If you can't laugh at yourself, why bother.

So, I'll say it again, thanks for stopping by my creative view today. I hope I've given you a good explanation of this new challenge and a reason to go get some Simple Stories Emoji Love.   Remember, it's 20% off when you use my code DEVRA at checkout.

Hats On to You

Monday, May 8, 2017

Well hello and good Monday to you! This is week 2 of May challenge reveals at Paper Issues. Today we have the new Pinspire Me mood board. I think it's spectacular.

I was clearly inspired by the blues. How could I not be with the Doodlebug Dragon Tails sitting in front of me! I love the playfulness of this collection. The fact that it's birthday themed made it perfect for these silly birthday photos. And dont go thinking its just for little kids. Nuh uh.

I started with the idea of the hats and remembered there's a free Birthday cut file in the shop too! To keep things simple after that, I cut and layered 4 papers and photos. The dragons in the die cuts and sticker sheet are really the best. I had to use them! A few little icons from the 12x12 sticker sheet and I was about done. I dont always use the cut apart sheets, but I really liked the way the multi patterns look under the white.

No matter how old he gets, he lets loose a little on his birthday. It probably helps that his grandparents are a great example of "never act your age". I love them for that. It probably also helps there's a ready made theme when your birthday is Cinco de Mayo,  So, another birthday in the books. This was number 15.

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today, It's going to be another busy week so stop back in again soon. Before you do, chock out the new Doodlebug or some of the other new collections. Use my code DEVRA at checkout for 20% off your purchase!

Epic Fail

Sunday, May 7, 2017

Well hello there! I'm so excited to be bringing you Scraplift Sunday on the Paper Issues blog! This is one of my favorite challenges! Why you ask?  First, it's an excuse to scroll endlessly through social media looking at pretty paper craft projects. But really, I don't have to think very hard about how I want to start my next page! That work has already been done for me, but I can still make it my own! Who's with me on that?

So this week, I am truly inspired by this page that Kelly made for our Fancy Pants Product Spotlight last month. I love it. 3 large photos, a great title, embellishments. What's not to love?

For my page, I also used the Fancy Pants Family & Co. All those die cuts puffy stickerschipboard and tags have the perfect sentiments for my page.  I flipped it on its side, then swapped the title and embellishment placements.

Here's a closer look at the layered embellishments

They all work together so well!

I'm about at the point of accepting that I will never have that 'perfect' family photo. Be it a selfie, or a professional photo, something, (more like someone) goes wrong. Maybe this will work in my favor. you know. Just when you give top, you get what you want. In the meantime. I will accept that these are the best I can get, and yes, they represent my family, in real life.

Thanks so much for stopping by my creative view today. Im so enjoying all these challenges at paper Issues. They are a great excuse to step away and take some creative time to myself. Now it's your turn. To shop, create and share. Use my code DEVRA at checkout to receive 20% off your purchase. Share with us in our Facebook Group for chances to win great prizes each month.

That's What a Hamburger's All About

Saturday, May 6, 2017

Hey there! It's National Scrapbook Day and it's also Sketchy Saturday at Paper Issues! I love a good sketch with lots of layers. That's exactly what we have for you this month!

I didnt do a whole lot of creative extras with this one. It's pretty great as it is. The new Elle's Studio Live Laugh Love landed at my doorstep recently. We haven't seen much sun this spring, so these colors were a welcome sight! I mixed in a few older pieces I had left in my stash. I really like that the colors are pretty consistent in all the collections.  As usual, I have taken the every day sayings, and applied them into some sort or sarcasm, or other meaning. I guess you can call that a signature of mine.

In N Out Burgers has been a favorite of mine since I was a child.  My Mom took me to the original restaurant where she used to eat. So now, every time I go home for a visit, In N Out is a must!

Thanks so much for having out with me for a bit today. There's still some Live Laugh Love in the shop that you can get for 20% off when you use my code DEVRA at checkout.  Join us in our Facebook group to celebrate National Scrapbook Day and share your projects!

Baby, You Can Drive

Thursday, May 4, 2017

Good morning! I have my first project for Paper Issues May challenges today. We have a new Working Title! This month's idea is to put your title on a curve.

I really like the real life and positive sentiments in the PinkFresh Live More collection. I found them to be a nice fit for this page.  I didn't want anything overly themed. It was a happy day for my son. I used some scraps of paper, but really put the focus on the Die Cuts, Puffy Stickers, and sentiment stickers. Because of course the title needed to stand out, I used my WRMK Thickers alignment guide to place the oh so awesome Copper Foil Alpha stickers to create the wave.

Yep. My son got his driver's license. I don't know what else I want to say about that. How did he grow up so quickly? Well, I hope he likes running errands...

As always, thanks for being here with my creative view. Head over to the Paper Issues shop to grab yourself some PinkFresh, or any of the other new goodies that have recently arrives, such as Echo Park, Carta Bella and Simple Stories.
