Finally some Scraptime

Wednesday, April 23, 2014

I guess going on vacation for a week really threw me off my game.  Ok, back to scrapping and blogging. Yup, Fridays are my day to play. And play I did last week. My Scraps & More has a sketch-a-thon going on. I can't think of a more perfect way for me to get back into a scrappy groove. Now to show you what I did:

Sketch #7, twist-use block alphas:

Oddly, I don't have very many photos printed that could be used for a one photo LO. I am going to have to go searching for more. Anyway, I did have this one.  After he pulled out his tooth, he walked around with a big sideways grin so we could all see the empty space in his mouth. And every chance he had, he asked us if we could see the empty space where the tooth used to be.  Crazy kid.

I liked this sketch. It was a good way for me to proactive my layering skills. I'm beginning to find my way in layering paper. Now I'm moving on to layering die cuts and embellishments. I have a ways to go...but I did get to continue to play with patterned papers from the same collection. Also an easy way to get started after not scrapping for a few weeks.
Supplies: Simple Stories papers, die cuts, stickers and alphas, Heidi Swapp Mist, bling-Hobby Lobby, wood veneer-Studio Calico

Sketch #11-twist-use flowers

I have one LSS that I shop at, Ben Franklin. They have a class called Paper Mania. Each month I am given papers and some embellishments. I create a project, bring it to the flowing month's class, and share.  Last month we were given Doodlebug Designs papers. Bright and colorful. Oh, and a twist-use a photo from the 80's. ok. sure. Let me did those out. then let me see what goes with these papers. How I came up with this photo I'll never know, but it works!

The sketch uses a 'shelf' design. Great for these bright and busy papers. I used a punch to soften the lines a bit. Flowers are fun to use on pages about me. A fairly simple page with lots of little bits for details.

  1. Fun...love the sideways grin... and the use of the star motif. That second layout is just so sweet!
